The ring with her and her mothers portraits in it says all. Elizabeth was Anne's greatest glory and best revenge.

It’s so ironic how Henry wanted a boy so bad to give his dynasty the glory but it was the girl that looked just like him that was his greatest legacy. I have always admired Elizabeth to know a woman of her time that decided to not marry was unheard of especially for a ruler. She stood her ground and did it all without man. Makes me so proud to be a woman.

As a lover of English history, I have to say that out all English rulers Elizabeth I is my favorite.

Some may have depicted her ruthless or a "mere woman". But Elizabeth was a well educated, intelligent, fearless monarch and leader, well ahead of her times in an age when men ruled every aspect of existence. She is one of my very favourite queens and world leaders.

'Though I may not be a lioness, I am a lion's cub and inherit many of his qualities.' -- Queen Elizabeth I.

In the speech Winston Churchill gave at the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne following the death of her father, the Prime Minister stated, "Queen Elizabeth II, like her predecessor [Queen Elizabeth I], did not pass her childhood in any certain expectation of the Crown." How poignant.

If there were a time machine, the first place in the past I would visit would be Elizabeth's court, she was far more intelligent and well read than anyone ever around her, she surrounded herself with very competent and courageous people, Drake and Raleigh were capable of sustaining the English treasury on their own, and her ability to stay out of costly wars, using diplomacy and the hope of marriage, her two great powers, she saved England. She was unequaled in her intellect.

My favorite story about Elizabeth apparently occurred during her Coronation procession, when at Cheapside, she stopped the procession to take a posy of wildflowers from a Goodwife at the wayside. She thanked the woman, stood up holding the flowers, and told the crowd that she would rather be given English wildflowers than any other kind, because (like the flowers) she was their "mere English Queen!" The crowd went wild. Though she was no saint, throughout her reign Elizabeth meant to be a good monarch and her people knew it, which is why they called her Good Queen Bess.

"My time will come, I, Anne Boleyn."
Indeed it did. Anne's time came through Elizabeth and her daughter's reign.

I read in history books that the ambassadors of those European countries who attended her funeral were astonished at the cries, groans and weeping of her people at her passing. No other monarch of the time was so beloved as she.

As an ardent history enthusiast, embracing history from all over the world, this woman has ALWAYS been my favorite historical figure. It was recently said of Queen Elizabeth II that when she came to the throne, she did so in a man's world. There is no doubt that the 2nd Elizabeth was an amazing woman, but the 1st Elizabeth faced an even more daunting task. She ruled in the only way that would allow her to truly be the supreme ruler, & did so to perfection. The world will never see Queen Elizabeth I's like again.

Lettice Knollys is one of the most fascinating people from the Elizabethan era, IMHO. She was related to the Royal Family, got herself in real hot water by getting involved with the Queen's favorite, Dudley, and endured many tragedies in her life. But she outlived almost all her contemporaries, living until 90, an impressive age even now, but incredible in those days.

Anne got the best revenge. Her daughter became Queen making England a rich world power when she died.

HM Queen Elizabeth I is Anne Boleyn’s greatest revenge. Ironic that HM King Henry VIII was hellbent on having a son that he would literally chop off Anne’s head because she gave birth to Elizabeth I, then years later Elizabeth is crowned & her rule would go down as one of the most successful reign’s in all of English & British history.

Elizabeth would later say:

“Though the sex to which I belong is considered weak, you will, nevertheless, find me find me a rock that bends to no wind.” - HM Queen Elizabeth I of England

“I have the heart of a man, not a woman, & I am not afraid of anything.” - HM Queen Elizabeth I of England

“I know I have the body of a weak & feeble woman, but I have the heart & stomach of a king, & of a King of England too.” - HM Queen Elizabeth I of England

She was a true QUEEN 👸

My care is like my shadow
Laid bare beneath the sun
It follows me at all times
And flies when I pursue it
I freeze and yet am always burned
Since from myself again I turn
I love and yet am forced to hate
I seem stark mute; inside I prate

My care is like my shadow
Laid bare beneath the sun
It follows me at all times
And flies when I pursue it

I love and yet am forced to hate
I seem stark mute; inside I prate
Some gentler love doth ease itself
Into my heart and mind
For I am soft and made of snow
Love, be more cruel or so be kind

Elizabeth I.

Having a master’s degree in Early Modern British history, it is my opinion that this program was the clearest condensation of the story of Elizabeth I. Just loved listening to this!
