It's honestly beautiful how Mav and Ice started out absolutely hating each other's guts, and then 30+ years later they're closer than brothers. The emotion on Mav's face as he salutes his casket says it all.

This scene, when I watched it in the cinema, absolutely shattered my heart. I could tell how much Iceman stood up for and protected Maverick for decades. Rest in Power.

I just LOVE Penny! She's supportive, understanding, and empathetic. I love how she gently reminds Maverick about his responsibility to his students. I love how she inspires Maverick here. If you'll remember, the next scene shows Mav stealing ("borrowing") a plane to show the kids that yes, the mission can be flown... :)

Went to war college East pack what was attached to the joint Chiefs during the Gulf war advisor to the president on nuclear war. He passed away yesterday. And this part of the film thanks very much to me it's helping me to get prepared for his services I'm also being a pilot. I'm saying since most of the scenes were shot in the San Diego area I'm sure at Miramar. My brother is flying high he's got his real wings now... Love you Bobby

Jennifer Connelly is the absolute Queen of Empathy. Every movie that I’ve seen her in since “A Beautiful Mind”. It doesn’t hurt that she’s extremely easy on the eyes as well. 🥰😍

First Maverick lost Goose and then 36 years later he lost Iceman. Thank goodness he still got a happy ending and was able to move on from his tragedies

What shocks me is how no one else from the original Top Gun showed up to lend a cameo here. I mean this would have been the perfect chance to Rich Rossovich cameo as Slider or Whip Hubley cameo as Hollywood or Tim Robbins cameo as Merlin to come pay their respects to their former pilot friend. U mean to tell me Maverick is the only one from the 1986 Top Gun class to attend the funeral... Still a great emotional scene.
