we're going on year three of this - if masks work, why was there spread in nursing homes and hospitals on a global scale where the masks were always the best type/grade and worn by everyone consistently ? How many years deep into this is it going to be before the masks are understood to be not so great with virus transmission ?

So use non reusable, expensive and probably not recyclable mask. My cloth mask has replaceable filters and so far I have been fine with it.

Cloth masks were made to add a filter! 99% of the patterns come with a slot to add the filter. Wear a cloth mask over the medical mask. And yes, masks should continue to be mandatory when in public, outdoors as well as indoors.
