I was on a blood pressure diuretic for 13 yrs, until 3 times in 6 weeks my blood pressure dropped so low, 911 took me in because I passed out. I stopped it on my own. I was sent to a cardiologist who told me it built up in my system, and to never take that again, no more BP meds. I moved to a new state, new Dr argued with me for months and insisted I needed it and I would be OK after so long off of it. I crashed again! He told me it was all in my head. I'm sorry, I check my BP and I know I'm in a good range, I know my body better than any Dr who wants to push drugs on me! Listen to your body and don't be scared to tell your Dr! TY Dr Jen :)

It was a few months after a surgery I had, and I believed I had a hernia. My primary said she didn't think so, but offered no opinion on what it was. I already had a scheduled appt with my GI right after the appt with my primary. She believed it was a hernia & was confused by my primary's response. She scheduled a CT scan & an appointment with the surgeon that did my surgery. Within less than a minute, the surgeon knew it was a hernia. He scheduled surgery after the CT scan results came in showing an incarcerated hernia, on the verge of being strangulated. During surgery, it was worse than they thought, & couldn't be done laproscopically. Turns out it was a spigelian hernia. Thank goodness the other two doctors recognized it as a hernia. I knew it was based on my feelings, what it looked like, and my online research. Online research is valid, especially with everything going digital, and there being no more encyclopedias.

i want my doctors to always understand they are working for me not the other way around. I want to know why they are recommending a med or a procedure and do not fear challenging the doctor if i think we are moving too fast or overlooking other options. I seek a partnership not a subordinate relationship. I have fired doctors and moved to another clinic twice because of the doctors unwavering attitude or dislike after i respectively challenged them. I want whats best for me and always desire to treat the cause not just the symptoms.

Yes, mislead, mistreated, and never been treated for the cancer I wasn't told.

Thanks Dr.Jen, here in UK, every single doctor is telling to the patients this, ooo is in your brain or you exaggerating when you talk about your pain.Is disgusting.

I’m really lucky here on Long Island, NY. I have great doctors and I’ve never had these issues. Thank you Dr. Jen for sharing your knowledge ❤❤❤❤

Worst thing an actual doctor said was never said to me personally, but to my mother who had a history of chronic pain due to back problems problematic past back surgeries and fusion and sciatica, among other issues on top of that, regarding pain medication on a particular visit. We were trying to find another new doctor that did everything i.e. good general internist that would also write pain medication as her past doctors used to do. This one automatically assumed though she had some kind of addiction and she burned her bridges with other doctors and that's why she was there. Oddly enough she later realized she had real issues and gave her the prescription anyway. I'd say you can thank politicians for that one though, they're really good at causing problems not solving them

A few things I have been told by doctors are: “it’s just the luck of the draw”, -pertaining to two medical conditions I was diagnosed with n the 1970s (water retention and poor circulation)“there’s nothing we can do for you”-1st doctor; “that’s how God made you”-2nd doctor when I inquired about going to a specialist to find out the cause of the 2 medical conditions previously mentioned. I was very small on in the 70s; now most doctors want indirectly or directly blame my weight for these two medical issues. ☹️

I took a medication called Cafegot for migraines. I was having chest pains. My doctor said I was too young to be having a heart attack, so refused to give me an appointment. Time went on and my arm started hurting. I couldn't carry things. My arm felt heavy. I end up going to the hospital. I was admitted. I had no pulse or blood pressure that they could detect. They said it wasn't normal. Three days later they found a doctor who knew what was wrong. It was the medicine. If they hadn't found the doctor I could have died or lost limbs. I don't sue. The doctor who saved me said not to worry, he'll take care of it. So he went after her license.

Ex-PCP Actually told me over and over that the symptoms I was having WAS INDEED ALL IN MY HEAD… but ACTUALLY WAS. I have a rare brain condition called GPN, in which I had not one but two brain surgeries 2020 in Greenville SC. Needless to say I found a PCP @ EMORY HOSPITAL. Who took her time to listen no matter how many patients she had booked for that day. I was in tears bc of the pain. Just talking made me cry, swallowing chewing etc… made me have horrible pain. They call the conditions (suicide disease). Bc ppl can’t take the pain and DOCTORS just don’t listen.
The reason the ex-PCP was stonewalling me was bc I suffer with anxiety depression and PTSD from trauma.
I had the surgery got well and went to her office to confront her and fire her as I could have eventually died my condition was that bad. I advocate for my health and my mental state. I am a RMA.. so I have medical background as well enough to know I wasn’t CRAZY.

My old doctor ignored my sister and I when I was terrible sick. I finally had to go to the er because I was so ill and not knowing that I had cancer. I was given 1 hour to live. Eventually when I was able to switched, I did.

I have verbally been told from Dr's that they would NOT PERSCRIBE ANY PAIN MEDICATION not even knowing me fully or not having studied my records to see my valid medical conditions

I had a Dentist point out how much dental plaque I had accumulated that’s fine but what irritates me is he didn’t offer me any advice how too prevent any future buildup of plaque, over time I figured out it was my diet causing it.

I haven’t had doctors actually say anything bad or off to me, but I have def felt brushed aside too many times to count. It seems like since I’m a woman and also black too, that I get believe way less and helped almost not at all it really sucks!
