Stop Stretching Your Psoas! (HERE'S WHY)

Stretching will not solve all the hip pain issues in this world. Everyone loves to stretch the psoas and hip flexor since they often feel tight, stiff, or achy. The problem is, tightness can often be confused for lack of flexibility, strength, or joint position. So while in some instances it might be useful to stretch the psoas and hip flexors. In many instances it doesn't work either. You'll also find many people telling you to strengthen the psoas or hip flexor. However, this can also be painful for many people and often the reason they chose not to do strengthening exercises. This is because there are a lot of reasons why muscles feel tight. One reason many people don't consider or fully understand is just how much joint position can impact muscles feeling tight! This video discusses why joint position can create the sensation of tightness and stiffness around the psoas and hip flexor, as well as a few suggestions on how to correct this problem!

This Man is 100% RIGHT! I tried everything but once I did the 3 movements he demonstrated in 24 hours I had instant relief after the second round the pain is 98% gone. I can’t believe it but I’m incredibly grateful. THANK YOU 🙏

Psoas length lengthening was a KEY element to my recovery of sever pelvic dysfunction with nerve impingement.

I literally couldn’t go to the restroom normally for 8 months.

You should not make such blanket statements. Every body is different

I can confirm. My right hip is more forward than left. why? Because I have disc extrusion on right side of spine. My body just avoiding pain and putting my posture out of alignment. Having lot of tightnes in psoas, piriformis, glutes, ... What is core problem? Chronic stress and emotional repression over long period. Psoas is highly sensitive on stress.

Would stretching help if the tightness is caused by a reverse S scoliosis curve?

Hello. These movements seem to mimic the hip hinge, which important in building strength, mobility, and flexibility in this region. Am I correct in saying this? Thank you for your time.

I have been dealing with unilateral groin/front leg pain which is mainly triggered by sitting and flexing my leg, I also have a posterior pelvic tilt. Do you think my psoas is overstretched/weak then? I've been doing hip flexors and lower back exercises for a while but they don't help much

Stretch the Psoas muscle. If you don't your body stops working well I say it as a person with a bad back injury from the military now after stretching every morning I'm starting to regain my full movement and planning on swinging soon. Still in the process of getting better but the Psoas muscle needs to be stretched if you have lower back problems don't listen to this guy unfortunately he's not helping I've you paid attention to David Goggins on the Joe Rogan podcast you can hear how it help him. This guy is trying to make money and promote himself

Would love to work with you on getting me better to Ironman and marathon racing. I’ve been at a complete stop for the last 5 weeks with no running due to left hip/groin pain. I’ve been to chiropractor and done physical therapy with no improvement. Please help! I think it may be this

Totally disagree why would you not stretch it. What you suggest after is probably strengthening it or making tighter which will further stretch the lower back into an exterior but out posture. And cause tremendous amount of stress on the lower back structures such as discs and other muscles like QL. Just stretch it everyone ignore this video.

No. Many rebuttals to argue this video but I'm not on YouTube and it's good for business being in the area of clinical sports massage therapy for pain management. Stretch and strength bilateral of all antagonist and protagonist muscles holistic to include the site will promote recovery giving long term effects. You're comparing hinge joint at the capsule of the shoulder to the psoas? Can I see your research? My clients would benefit if I am corrected.

Anterior glide of the shoulder is counter by subscapularis. While doing bench press if the scapula anterior tilting and shoulder anterior glide rhe subscaularis is at lenghten position and oftsm time over stretched for those with anterior ahoulder pain. Same happen with psoas no matter how much stretches u gonna do you won't release the stifness unless you maks this muscle work again. Sorry to say that but your programme wont make good results. In order to prevent anterior glide of the hip joint you need to strengthen ur psoas with knee raises above degree maks this muscle short again. Strong psoas prevent excessive anterior pelvic tilt.
