Mr. Kowalski surely hates freeloaders... I bet he only does the funeral reception for his beloved wife...

0:10 "Where's Korea?" and "get some chairs"

If one really wants to help out, that person will just act on it instead of asking while standing still at the same spot.

2:28 The Vintage car and retro coach
The spitting is epic~

If Clint Eastwood was my grandfather I would be respectful as hell.

The over indulgent parents are every bit as much the problem as the undisciplined and disrespectful children.

It's nauseating, the grand daughter asking for the car once he dies, you just don't remind your grandpa he's going to die and basically oblige him to give you his car... what a fucking family, glad he gave all his belongings to the church and the car to Thao

Ashley is the kind of girl that would rather be at the mall then with their family. The grandkids are obviously not very close to their grandparents which is really sad. That’s no excuse for the disrespect

How many swamp rats can fit in a room while he has a gathering of the same in his house.

I love the irony portrayed in this film. Clint is a damn good director.

I never had a grandfather, he died long before I was born. God rest his soul. My grandmother, however, introduced a grandfather figure into my life later on. He had a similar case as Walt: distant sons with selfish grandchildren. Aside from his calloused and introverted appearance, he truly did have commendable traits and a good morality. Now, looking back on everything, I am truly grateful for what he has taught me through my childhood.

"Where's Korea?" It was the forgotten war.

GT is such a great movie about generations. You can easily see what's so hatable about the young generation, but Walt is no saint either. His standoffishness and lack of faith (in others, in God) is clearly what cultivated Walt's own kids to despise him so much, especially as fat-happy era boomers. But he did learn it finally with the Hmong family, so it's a movie about redemption.

"Need help with the chairs?" "No I need 'em now, not next week."

"Grandpa Walt, would you like some help with this?" "No you probably just painted your nails."

Ashley actually had the nerve to ask for the Gran Torino and his couch for after he died when they're at her grandmother's funeral reception?!

Walt was given a true chance at redemption with his Hmong neighbors. Especially Thao who Walt clearly seen as the 17 year old boy he shot in the face during the Korean War. In many ways he became closer with Thao than he did his own sons.

I'm thankful that my grandparents lived just across the street from me growing up! Here I am at 24... and shit my grandpa is one of my best men I know!

I hate that girl.
She asks her granda to have his couch and car if he would died...
She smokes behind parents back and wears a short clothes and a belly button ring during her grandmas funeral.
And when she needs to help him she said her father told her to do that.
What a great grand daughter to have.... seriously!

This movie makes me wish I spent more time with my grandfathers, now it’s too late.

Karen: "Ok, well, your dad is driving me crazy."
Me: "His wife just died! And he's bothering you?!" 😧😤😠

Ok seriously though! She had no subtle behavior at all! Just went and asked Walt what would happen to the car after he died! How insulting can you be!
