This is definitely a great book. I wish I would have found it already as a teenager. Reading it made me understand many situations from the past that i could have handled very differently

5 Steps 
Step 1. Arouse in the person an eager want.
Example : 
Dad don't you want to be healthy enough so that we can travel the world together.
I know we want to go to Europe and
I want to do a road trip around the US with you and
in that moment something something clicked with DAD
And he gave up the Negative Habits 
The reason why this strategy worked and Dad changed was because
the ideas of traveling the world always inspired him (as he loves traveling
) and that he will travel with his son and that he will have to be healthy 
Made all the difference 
and this now was not a normal want it was an EAGER DESIRE 
Instead of thinking what you want, think about in terms what the other person wants, and appeal to their desires 
Henry Ford said :
''if there's any one secret of success it lies in your ability to get the other person's point of view and see things from their angle'' 
and the only way you can get anyone to do anything is to give them what they want.
so think really hard about what it is that the other person wants and aroused
that eager want/desire
if you want to be able to influence them to your way of thinking 
Step 2. Ask Questions, instead of giving orders 
No body likes to take orders 
Example :
Hey our club needs new blood, we are running low on membership 
and I would just love to hear your ideas on how you think
we can grow this club 
so please share and please tell me what we can
The reason why it works is because
When you ask questions, instead of giving orders, the person feels important 
That is one of the most powerful laws of human nature, it safes their pride, they don't feel like they are your servant people 
People Co-operate, because it is their idea. 
And Rather going against it, they want to be a part of it.
People are much more likely to follow an order if they have a hand in the creation of that order 
Step 3. See things from the other persons point of view 
Abraham Lincoln said
when I get ready to talk to people
I spent 2/3 of the time thinking about what they want to hear
and one thirds of the time thinking about what I want to hear
Take a moment to see how concerned you are with your own affairs 
now think about how little you care about other people's affairs 
and now you realise that everyone else outside 
is going through the exact same thing 
they are thinking the exact same thing 
so your success with other people
really depends on your grasp of their
viewpoint / being able to see things from their perspective 
So every time you interact with someone especially when you're
about to ask for something 
pause and ask yourself why would he or she want to do this
that is crucial !!!
Step 4. Give People a fine reputation to live up to 
This is a great way to change their behaviour and attitude
Example :
The person executing the task lacks Ownership and Leadership 
but you affirm them despite of your observations :
Told her :
Hey I really like the fact that you're owning this membership campaign
this time around and I like your leadership 
I like when you are getting things done even when they seem difficult
just like that email that you sent to HR manager 
that was wonderful !!
after that conversation she literally owned
the membership campaign all the way 
as if she was hundred percent responsible.
Her the thing : 
If you want to improve a certain trait in certain people 
act as already though they have that trait. 
Shakespeare said this best 
''assume a virtue
if you have it not''
and the same holds for other people assume that 
the other person has the virtue even if you don't
think they have it right now and they
will live up to the reputation that you give them to live up to.
Step 5. Agree with people to resolve their Resistance 
If they argue with you about why the other company is better,
just agree with them / acknowledge it 
and they can not keep arguing with you / there is no resistance them now
and now you can talk about
the specific features and benefits of your product,
what makes you Unique and Different.
And that more often then not leads to a sale rather then you trying to argue with the customer why your product is better
If you want to avoid arguments, DO NOT RESIST PEOPLE 
AGREE WITH THEM 
and this is a starting point of you being able to INFLUENCE THEM 
and win them to your way of thinking.
