3 Things INTJs Should NEVER Do

As an older INTJ, I have been accused of being chaotic, having no plans. I have a direction. My goal lies over there, so, I start heading in that direction. So long as I move in that direction I get closer to my goal. I also have an extreme intuition, so I will make sudden 90, or 180 degree turns seemingly at random. Sometimes the best way, and least painful way to reach a goal is not necessarily a straight line, but meandering. Ancient wisdom comes to mind that patience is the key that unlocks most locks.

I think planners don't like me because I don't create step by step directions when moving towards my goals. Sometimes, and I mean rarely I will break down task like quests in a video game with sub-quest that must be achieved to complete the main goal. But that is rare.

I found that I need to have multiple goals. Long term goals are good, but you can only appreciate the payoff when looking back on what you accomplished. Medium term goals give you a hope for a payoff. But you really need one or more short term goals that have a payoff within a few months at most to keep the morale up. Otherwise I become disillusioned with working towards improving my life, and having nothing to show for it now.

1. I run screaming from anything like commitment because it feels like a prison. Especially relationships!
2. I have not found my purpose and am lost.
3. I refuse to work mundane 9-5 jobs for an inadequate hourly rate. Currently studying again aged 44.

Someone actually said to me last month "how do you live such a chaotic life!?!", I never really thought of it that way, I'm just trying to be free.

I laughed out loud when you said you are building an INTJ army. Not sure they would like you sharing The Plan with the rest of us! 😂

as an independent consultat you've given me some insight with point 3. i often have time left at the 'end' of the project and that will be used to help my clients with other stuff. I think I need to stop offering based on time and start offering based on result (fixed price). thanks :) also; you know an INTJ army will be usesless. It will be all generals, no foot soldiers.

I would love to see a video in which you compare all 4 NT types in depth

My advice as an INTJ is to not ignore other people’s feelings because you can easily offend or intimidate people without knowing it. You may be right almost all the time, but that doesn’t mean people will like you. It’s somewhat painful for me to say things in a nice way instead of an efficient blunt way.

60 year old INTJ here, I love your concise insights which are always on point, you are one of the few people I would love a conversation with. Happy to join the INTJ army.

I always say, "Make the most of your time. It's the one thing you cannot get more of when it's gone. You can lose money and things and in some senses, even people, and you can always find means of getting more again. But never time. Once that's gone, it's gone for good." So I never trade it for mere money...there has to be more to it. Though that said, I can find meaning in nearly every job I've ever had...there is always some connection to my vision.

As an INTJ, I agree with #1. I told myself I would never impose, and it has freed me as I enjoy the freedom of not depending. As an African Young Woman it freaks my people out sometimes, but I'm glad I follow you. The world is big, and I'm strange but not entirely misunderstood. There are people who have studied my type and still are✨

I've done all three of those things, all at the same time. It was not a good time.
Since then, I've discovered my vision, and I am still working out what to do with the other 2 issues.
I think an INTJ without a goal in life is a very depressed INTJ. Because I had an agonizing few years without a purpose which felt real to me.
I have discovered my vision now. It's my vision which keeps me going everyday.
I spent a few years catering to the wishes of family and the expectations of society. I told myself that I was satisfied with what they wanted me to become. But something always felt wrong.
Only when I finally took a good look at myself, and what I really wanted, did I realize that I was lying to myself. I tried denying what I really wanted because I was lead to believe that my goals are impossible and unrealistic. I had taken the safe, society-approved way in life.
Now, I have a real vision which I actually like, and even if it's impossible, I will give it my best shot.
The sky is the limit, until it's not.

I would add #4: Don't be obsessed over logic. Accept your intuition and emotions on a fundamental level. Suppressing them will only hurt you, and logic isn't all it's cracked up to be.

3. Trade time for Money.

That's what happened for me recently. I had a pending job offer that is stable but for that amount of work and time i put in, I can't get enough mental and monetary stimulation from it. Then I got another easier job offer that pays better but requires me to be more flexible and adaptable. I chose the latter.

I have to honestly say that I really love and admire the insight and effort Natan puts on the videos on this channel...
Seeing MBTI getting more and more popular and very often getting approached mostly in a horoscopes-like way makes of real insight on the issue something really valuable these days.

Natan, thanks for your effort.🙏🏽

Great advice Nathan! The flip side to #2: Don’t narrow down prematurely. It is really easy to get fixated on one idea/course of action that seems the most compelling, even when there might be better alternatives.

#1 is my key to everything.
Not having the ability to be completely spontaneous or do as I like without resistance really diminishes what I feel I can do in life.

Been confronting each of these in some way lately as an INTJ. Seems spot on in explaining some of my struggles. Great content.

These are all great points! I can see how my belief in all 3 of these is currently playing out in my life, which is neat.

"What is freedom? To have the will to be responsible for one's self." - Max Stirner

I like both of Rand and Stirner, even their philosophy were different from eachother but not mostly....
