A semiconductor tech race would help humanity so much. Hopefully China invests into semiconductors more, forcing America to do the same, and that way Taiwan isn't as important + processing power for everyone becomes cheaper

Jai Hinduja. IC is basically Indian Chinese. If no Chinese, can also use Indians to make chips.

At a Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) conference in late June, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo declared that Washington could “shut down” any Chinese semiconductor company caught selling to Russia since “almost every chip in the world and in China is made using U.S equipment and software.”

Now what she is refering to are called lithography machines. Only and only USA knows the entire technology to produce them. Neither Samsung or TSMC have any clue.

Thus you see that USA was not a fool to decrease it's market share in semi conductor business decades ago when it exported it's silicon Valley to it's colonies in the far east. It has the absolute control over technology even today and shifting factories to cheaper labour market made the US companies richer.
