In this video, we’re going to talk about how to stop flatulence.

The average person passes gas between 5 and 15 times per day with no odor. If you have a poor diet, you might experience more flatulence each day.

What causes flatulence? Check out these six causes and remedies for gas.

#1 Low stomach acidity
Flatulence is hydrogen and methane gas created by microbes in the process of carbohydrate and fiber fermentation.

This process is supposed to occur in your large intestine. When it occurs in your small intestine, this is related to SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). SIBO can cause many other digestive issues.

Your stomach pH should be between 1 and 3—this is highly acidic. Without high stomach acidity, your digestive process is put under stress, causing many digestive issues.

The best remedies for low stomach acidity:
• Betaine hydrochloride
• Apple cider vinegar

Ginger can also help soothe the stomach.

#2 Food intolerance
Another cause of gas is food intolerance. Lactose intolerance is a common problem that happens when your body lacks the enzymes that break down lactose. In turn, this causes excess gas. You can avoid lactose or take enzymes that help break down lactose.

Gluten intolerance is also common—if you’re on Healthy Keto, you don’t have to worry about gluten or grains.

Probiotics can help fortify your microbes and potentially increase enzyme production.

#3 Gas-producing foods
Avoid these common gas-producing foods:
• Fruit
• Beans
• Legumes
• Starches (like potatoes and rice)
• Sugar
• Certain cruciferous vegetables (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage)
• Onions

Instead, consume more:
• Lettuce
• Tomato
• Zucchini
• Olives
• Avocado

#4 Sugar alcohols and fiber

#5 Chewing gum
Chewing gum and chewing with your mouth open can cause you to swallow excess air. Avoid chewing with your mouth open.

#6 Carbonation
Soda and other carbonated drinks can increase gas in your system.

If you soak the Broccoli in salted water (abt 2 tbs) for 1-3 hours and then rinse well before you steam it, it will help cut down on the gas! Works for me and I used to have severe issues with it!

For 15 years i have been using every morning 100 ml of fresh lime juice or fresh lemon juice mixed with 150 ml of warm water and add a teaspoon of honey.Never had a problem with digestion and became more resistent to the flu. Ginger tea is great too if you want to improve your digestion.

Dr Berg you are a life saver. I'm in South Africa and so addicted in listening to your videos. Your videos are so helpful to me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and haemorroghic ascites 10 years back. Last month I noticed my stomach was distended and my abdomen was painful when I pee. My period lasted 2 weeks and I thought I had fibroids or my ascites is back. I then CHANGED my diet. I stopped eating anything with sugars. Stopped dairy (cheese, milk, yogurt, eggs). I started drinking mint tea with fresh ginger and turmeric. Some days made hot lemon tea. I then reduced my meals to 2 a day. Today my stomach is as flat as a pancake. I can't believe looking at it. Thank you.

Dr Berg makes Dr Oz look like the school nurse. He knows wtf he's talking bout. He helped me identify why my stools were grayish because I had a fatty liver due to obesity and being overweight. This man really should have his own show and kick Oz off the air.

Dr Berg, you saved my life. I take AVC and changed my diet, not Keto or IF. Just overall better diet with really nutrition. I'm no longer diabetic, hypertensive or an insominac.

I've found that when you stop eating gluten-grains/flours, refined oils, sugars & ultra-processed foods in general & your gut flora is allowed to become healthy via a "real whole food" diet, that flatulence & smelly gas isn't an issue. I eat lots of fresh veggies every week (including broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), fruits, chickpeas & other beans, etc. & have no issues like I did when I was younger & eating stuff on the earlier list that I gave about what not to eat.

I haven't had a problem with this since starting Keto. It must have been the sugars in my diet causing it before. Not only could I really 'rip one off' but I had those "walkin' farts" that Larry the Cable guy talked about before I changed my diet. Thank you again Dr. Berg, you may never know all the positive effects you have had.
