By that math we only need to sunbathe naked in Britan for 30 seconds. Let's just hope I don't get spotted

Also hes referring to white skin. Darker skin tones, even while nude sunbathing will generate less vitamin D in 20mins

I've read that the recommended dosage is much lower than will actually top up Vitamin D to healthy levels, that there should be an extra 0 on the IU per day. Darker skin also requires more time to generate the same amount I believe?

I had close to no vitamin D in my system a few years ago (8nmol/L), it was only after dosing at 32000 ui daily for many weeks and taking 4000ui a day that it levelled out in healthy ranges (158nmol/L). I've kept it in healthy ranges but only with 4000ui daily (over 12 months it on 4000ui plus sun generation, it dropped from 158nmol/L to 108)

I suspect 400ui would drop it considerably more over a course of months 🤔

Recommended intake and optimal blood Vitamin D seem to be a long way apart. From what I've read, older people in less sunny climes are unlikely to be able get sufficient vitamin D during the winter to maintain a healthy systemic concentration.

I have low vitamin D even though I live in Hawaii and work outdoors, on a boat in a bathing suit. Is there any medical reason that could be happening?
