Make sure when you do this, you wash and dry the leaves first. If you do exactly like this then you're harboring bugs in your fridge.

I'm 53 and I've been doing this for decades now! I got it from my mom and grandmother

Normally I'm all about not wasting papertowels, but I've been doing this for years and it's totally worth it. Kick it up a notch with some bamboo reuseable towels if you have some already

I put the lettuce with the bottoms and all in a large freezer bag and fill the bottom with water and stick the lettuce in…the lettuce stays crisp and fresh for a month or longer…

Ha that’s exactly how I store my lettuce…works like a charm!

Try to use a lettuce knife or hands when cutting. Using a metal knife causes the cut portion of the lettuce will turn brown. Worked in the restaurant business for years!!!

I just washing it and air dry first. Place it in a ziplock storage bag. Place it in my fridge and it’s been now about 3/4 wks and it still fresh and not welted. I don’t use any towels.

Does it work on a round head of lettuce. I'm weird I don't like the romaine.

Why do you want to keep it for nearly a month?

She forgot to say to use a plastic knife (or tear ends off) so it doesn’t discolor)

Why would you want to keep the lettuce for two weeks. You should eat it with in days of purchase.

Never use metal on lettuce. It browns faster. Rip it instead. Other than that not a bad tutorial

Actually no. Cut a small slice from the bottom. Place in jar with the bottom in water. Then drape plastic over and put in fridge. Will literally continue to stay alive. Growing…in the fridge.
