Hi, I am 70 years old, and my mother taught me this when I was in my twenties. This doesn't just work with lettuce, it works with anything green, green onions, cauliflower, lettuce, artichokes, celery, not sure why the aluminum foil protects everything but it does. I have had lettuce last up to 2 months wrapped in foil, green onions, 4 to 5 weeks, I cannot believe that people are just learning about this LOL LOL LOL.

Here's one for you: fresh mushrooms. I have probably this one for 30 plus years. Do not wash the mushrooms, just put them into a paper bag, yes, it has to be a paper bag, and toss them into your refrigerator. Leave for as long as you need. They may dry out and if they do, just a little water and rehydrate them.

One important step was skipped -- you MUST clean your lettuce. Rinse and dry. Do not pack it up wet. Realistically though... 30 days? I eat up my lettuce within 2 weeks. I use a lettuce crisper container that works really well.
