I’d love an old school Wranglerstar video about axes and being out in the woods cutting down some trees. Like the simple videos you used to do. Those were the best without question.

My Dad taught me how to throw a tomahawk when I was about 9. Great stuff. Keep up the good content, brother!

The tomahawk is a french trade item derived from small axes on ships seen on belts of sailors when they went ashore and traded these with the natives who later requested similar axes when french merchants attempted future trade with the natives.

Oh great. Now I'll need to wait for Harbor Freight to have tomahawks back in stock. The HF axe took forever to get.

I have a camp tomahawk that breaks down but has a closer head profile to a ax. I use it for splitting and driving stakes in camp.

Each and every time I am learning something from you. I absolutely love your videos. 👍🏻

In Portugal, we use axes with tomahawk profile as tools for cork. The slick profile makes it perfect for removing cork from trees.

What if you’re fighting logs? Should you use a tomahawk in that case?

I’ve used my CRKT tomahawk for splitting and small branch trimming and it’s worked surprisingly well. Definitely not meant for heavy work but it’s a light weight tool I’d use for back packing

Also, the hawk has a raper handle and is harder to hold on to when chopping, it tends to slide out of your hand as it is designed for throwing.

Tomahawks are good splitters!
They've used them too split heads for centuries

Not only that but traditionally the handle on a tomahawk is rounded. Which doesn't give you a very good purchase if you're actually trying to split something. But it's very good if you're on the battlefield and you break your handle. A lot of times you could just grab a stick use the blade itself shave it down a little bit toss it back in the blade and you're back in battle.

An axe dplits wood, a tomahawk splits skulls.
