I'm going to be honest this is the one tool that seems like it's generally not needed

If snap on isn't paying him, they should be. In the past year it seems like 75% of his videos are all about snap on tools/toolboxes.

I highly recommend adding the Western Union/Lineman splice to your knowledge base. Done correctly and backed up with solder it forms a redundant joint that won't vibrate or pull apart, NASA approved 👍 commonly seen in aerospace, racing, military, anywhere electronic connections are mission critical. Bonus, this splice can also be applied to large cable/wire and used under tension to run telecom/power which is where it gets its name.

Cody do you have a Snap On addiction. Just asking because I know the signs lol.

Not sure if you use flux but I’ve found that simply dipping the bare end of the wire in a puck of flux causes the suction effect of pulling the solder into the wires and lessens the chance of a cold solder joint. It only takes a tiny amount of flux to do this too. My understanding is that it heats up quicker than the metal and the reaction that it creates allows the “pulling” effect. Makes extremely professional looking solder connections and not bulky, chunky solder joints. 👍

I want you to know that I don't solder like that or tighten my boots like you do but I do whatever is needed around my house. you're a professional something but homeowner doesn't come to mind..

A luxury tool! I usually have to twist them, prop it up then use some kind of weights to hold the wires still then solder it. Oh did I forget to mention that I forget the heat shrink sometimes

Definitely a professional homeowner hack. I'm a professional mechanic and I can't afford those trinkets.

More like how to solder like a yuppie. $106 snap on jig? Come on - a couple of roach clips do the same thing.

No matter how many times I block and dislike this guy he still manages to pop up on my feed.

This tool (or it’s generic counterpart) would have its uses for tabletop soldering, however when you’re soldering in tight spaces like vehicles and lawnmowers and whatever else it’s just not gonna happen.

That's not how you solder wire. You melt solder onto the tip of the iron and make contact with the wire until the solder travels from the iron tip to the wire.

Love you man, but did you really need to drop the cash on a snap on soldering jig? Lol

If you need that tool to connect two wires, you need to improve your skills instead.

why not just crimp it like every electrician ever does?

Except the rest of us can’t afford snap on everything lol

Probably the worst soldering job I've seen.

The tooling is pro level. The execution is bush league.

This reel should be titled "Skill Levels That Don't Match The Tools."
