I think for $300 it’s actually better than the audio Teknika LP 120 and better than the U-turn orbit. I think for $300 this thing is right on the money

Through painstaking decision making, finally decided on the RT81. Buying it wednesday

The platter is undamped and will ring if struck with a knuckle, this will also create colouration during record replay, some damping material would help with neutrality.

I bought one of these a little over a year ago. The first one was defective and Fluance would not pay to have it sent back. I had to pay another 40 bucks to ship it. They agreed the turntable was defective and sent me a new one. This new one is great, it's beautiful and sounds good for the price. I think it is outrageous that they would not pay to take it back, though.

Wow, that record sounds terrifically quiet.

Since making my initial comment over 2 years ago - about not wanting one of these Fluance tables due to the lack of an auto-return, I have since purchased one anyway. Still, I'd prefer a table with the auto-return feature, but the table I bought (RT-85) has too many outstanding features and performance to be ruled out entirely. I'll deal with the tonearm return, it is what it is: still an outstanding table despite the a-r feature.

Only slightly deceptive remarking that it's by "Canadian manufacturer". It's only DESIGNED in Canada, manufactured in Taiwan.

I have two of these turntables. They are terrific!

I'm still amazed that some turntables still do not build in the auto-return feature! Are you kidding me? I'd own one of these beautiful Fluance's in a heartbeat if they would only have thought to include that 'vital' feature. Does one really want the record to just stop spinning when the needle comes to the end of the record and leave the needle on the vinyl? Incredible....

Why can't some modern company make an automatic record changer?

For $300 i would go for a vintage japanese table. They are the best in the world.

Todays turntables are more expensive than the turntables from the 1980es with less features and askworthy build-quality. Are todays turntables desinged by Apple or why do they ask that ammount of money for a cheap aluminum platter and a particle board plinth? I run a fully restored Denon DP-47f and yes, it was costly to restore it but it will last me the rest of my days and maybe even the days of my kids.

I’d put my 1975 Sanyo TP1010 up against the RT81 any day.

I keep hearing walnut finish when they talk about this but is it real walnut veneer or fake walnut?

Can I plug a turntable that has a built in pre-amp into a phono input on my receiver?

Upper end at the entry level? Now I wouldnt agree with that but its all subjective anyway, so no reason to mention it other than to start controversy.
