The way I see it, Nate's obsession with those traits on women could come from his denial of his sexuality. Traumatized by his father at a young age, he probably wants to deny any attraction to traits that aren't “feminine”

We all love to hate Nate Jacobs. One point that angered me about Season 2 was how Cassie was shamed for sleeping with her friend's ex, yet nobody brought up that Nate was also sleeping with HIS friend's ex. Oh, the double standards!

When I saw this show for the first time, Rue listed his "likes and dislikes" and it immediately gave me vibes.

In my opinion, Nate is the typical ‘jerk jock’ done right (or at least done better than ones in other teen drama shows). They take the time to develop and flesh out his character in a way that makes him human, but not overtly sympathetic.

Make no mistake, Nate hates himself. I think a lot of what drives him is self loathing covered with fake arrogance.

Break down Cassie! She is the queen of Euphoria and seeing her go from a sympathetic character in season 1 and being a victim of circumstances to where she uses her victimization to justify her actions is season 2 is a sight to behold!!

"he's so hot and he's so miserable." LMAO

Nailed it !! Jacob keeps on saying in interviews that Nate doesn't love himself. Also Nate abuses Maddy physically and mentally so yeah u r right, Nate only wanted to possess her. There is no love.

Youre pretty spot on but I think I commented on your last video about euphoria about how scary nate is...and you touched on that nate isn't that special or uncommon. And I think that's what scares me so much about him. But there is a lot of trauma mixed in there as well...he's terrible and also a treasure trove of...what trauma and this kind of mentality can do to someone but also how much power they wield.

Whenever I hear "hates when women <list of stuff I do>", I think, thank heavens I would never have to deal with this jerk, I will never be worth his time. And that's fine with me.

you’re so considerate! loved how you said “let me know if i got anything wrong cause i haven’t watched the full series” - so many experts nowadays are quick to judge stuff based on only the short clips they see

this was so therapeutic in some ways. I was in an abusive relationship with a guy exactly like Nate and hearing you describing him that way brought me back the trauma that I endured with my ex. But how you describing him soothe me and reassured me that I wasn't crazy and that the fact that we broke up was such a blessing for me..

Oh my god you did it! We asked and you did it! Thank you, Johnathan! I think any of the characters would be good to therapize, but I would like to see what you would say about Fez. He’s very interesting and I would like to see what you have to say about his actions in seasons 1 and 2 in context with his backstory.

It's funny how nates hates/likes list, while being so specific, reflects what some girls grew up programmed to keep in mind when presenting themselves.

“Ugh, he’s so hot and so miserable” describes Nate to a T 🤣

It’s crazy how spot on he is watching it raw. ALSO HOW SIMILAR HE IS TO MY EX. It was terrible and I realized things on my own just learning the term narcissist even though we can’t tell what someone is personally but he fit everything like textbook case and helped me get out.

These videos remind me of my favorite assignment from my psychology class in college. We had to pick a movie and diagnose a character and present it to the class. I went to the library and rented a bunch of movies watched them all and I ended up choosing Nell. It was a lot of fun and really interesting.

I would like Johnathan to get the full context of Nate and and Cal to give us the most informed analysis. I have a lot of sympathy for Cal, I think he cares but struggles with some ego and internalized messaging that gets in his way, then he also lacks the tools because he had to grow up and raise his kids at an early age. A take on his wife, Nates mom, after Cals breakdown would be a good reaction too. Nate is the only character that's truly hard to sympathize with in any sort of way for me, even considering his past. But he does show a tad bit of complexity ontop of the shallow narcissism. I think Maddie might be the closest he's ever been to someone and might actually have feelings and appreciation for her as a person. However, it's extremely limited because later on his psychopathy comes out and he pulls a gun on her. There's also something a little deeper hinted at with Jewels, but I guess we'll never know....

Pretty spot on of Nate Jacobs of a character, really impressive to see you pick up all of that just from a few scenes!

That's so impressive how he guessed about nate's issue with his father with no other context than the extract. Fascinating !
