This is true. I was talking to a company about helping them. I first understood their project time expectation. They threw a number first, I said, the work you want is easy and will not take all my available time to meet your time expectation. You just need to understand that others will be buying my remaining time. This is what I actually wanted.

The company decided they wanted all of my time and ended up paying more than if they had stated with the original offer. Their thought was if they get all my time they get the work faster. I said, true, but you can’t afford all my time. What I did is forced them to see value.

The next step is you MUST deliver.

Value is key in pricing negotiations, not just the number. Deliver results and save money.

Don’t love this guy but he’s right about this. You never let them tell you a budget. If you do you’re screwed. Explain the value before money is ever discussed. It’s going to save you money because xyz. It’s normally this price but if you do it now I’ve got a great deal sincerely. It’s 60% of that price and you will spend less money over time than the one that’s 80% less money up front. Now if you’re going the other way, buying, never say the first number. Seller should always be the first to say price.

Haggling is not normal for all countries, so saying higher price, all you will get is "Thank you"

Read books and you save up $$$.
All the things he says written in books and you can buy them for 2$ at second hand shops. Use money smarter

This comment section is precisely why in the book never split the difference Chriss Voss says to never pair your price with time. The first thing people do is relate it to themselve and with a price of a 1000$ an hour you make people resent you. Can better say I do private coaching we are going to achieve this this and that it cost 1000$ then at least you have some perspective.

But to just reply to the guy i would say.
Thankyou so much that you want to help me that is very generous of you. Since I really like to work with you and you are saying that you want to help me, I just cant do 1000$ an hour at this moment.

Change the topic from price to value, that‘s when money is the second option

Extremely powerful. I get this every time and have learnt to give my number first. If anything, if they say it is too high, I know they're not the client for me, yet.

Anybody not willing to pay his amount is not a client worth his time. That simple. His job isn’t to give you a deal nor is it his job to assume you can’t afford his price. He knows his value and how he could help scale a business. If your business is super profitable, you wouldn’t be talking to him in the first place. People are out here making more than that per hour. It’s not unheard of

If someone said this to me I'd say "if you could get $1000/hr you wouldn't be offering to do it less for me. And the fact that you're opening up this conversation with a bad faith number tells me it isn't a good fit for my business. My business is built around honesty, transparency, authenticity & no games.

I don’t put my emotions into sales. And I don’t care if they put me on the spot and try to make me think the way they want. I don’t let them take control. I don’t let them play mind games with me. And I CERTAINLY DO NOT LET THEM TALK ME INTO IT. DONT BE SO EASILY PERSUADED PEOPLE THEY WANT TO PLAY WITH YOUR FEELINGS TO GUILT YOU INTO A PURCHASE.

It’s really simple, “I’d like you to 5x my revenue in 1 year. We’ll draw up the contract. I will agree to your terms. But, if your advice and efforts don’t translates into a minimum, guaranteed 5x increase in revenue for my business. I demand that you pay me 10x what the anticipated yearly revenue within 9 business days of the year ticking over.” Simple. It eliminates everything and ties success to compensation or your money back. If they’re as good as they claim they are then this is east money and they have nothing to lose.
