First fried egg in my new Matfer Bourgeat carbon steel pan

Fried an egg on Day 2 of having my new Matfer Bourgeat 11 7/8" (30cm) carbon steel frying pan. Model number 62005 or 062005. The staff at Matfer Bourgeat calls it a "#5 pan".

On Day 1 I seasoned the pan according to the manufacturer's instructions (they involve frying potato skins from 2 potatoes in lots of 2/3 cup of salt and 1/3 cup of oil - two times). I cooked one meal with this pan before I fried this egg.

Have fun with your new skillet. Next time try a little less heat. The butter shouldn't smoke. It's ok if it turns brown (very tasty) but it shouldn't burn.

Why is it new carbon owners feel the need to film then share their cooking of an egg? Why not walk out on front porch, inhale, and show us how you can fill your lungs with air? We want to see you fry some bacon then immediately fry 2 eggs in that bacon grease
