For the 5-split: you can save 3 spliters/mergers by basicly doing a 6-split but merge the 6th output back into the beginning (and simmilar with the other primes, start with a multiple of 3 thats over your desired number [9 for a 7-split, 12 for a 11-split etc] and merge the unwanted outputs back into the beginning).
That´d be another type of hybrid i think ( manifold with overflow ? )
