Oh finally. A recipe video that actually shows you the flour and water being mixed, rather than doing a jump cut. And no silly-toddler persona screaming at the camera every few seconds. This is a great video, thank you.

Wow, with some many homemade flour tortilla fails in my past, I decided to take another chance and this recipe was my first HIT !! A perfect, soft, tender, tasty flour tortilla!!! Yes!!! I did it, finally!! FYI, I did “spoon” the measurement of four into the measuring cup as to avoid overpacking the flour and I used about 3/4 of a cup of hot water and it was a tad bit too much so I just added another teaspoon or so of more flour into the dough and it was perfect!! So the dough is workable. Follow her instructions carefully and your flour tortillas will be a hit. Thanks for this simple recipe!

Good advice on the lard content. I live in Tucson Arizona and had a nanny Mrs Ortiz that fed me breakfast every school day. She made 3' diameter huge tortillas every morning outside with mesquite fire for her very tall husband and son's. I was awe struck how enormous they were. I grew to love that family as they made me feel loved.

Thank you for this. Years ago when I lived in west Texas, I asked my Mexican neighbor to teach me how to make tortillas, and she laughed at me as though I'd asked her to show me how to chew gum. "Who doesn't know how to make tortillas?!" Pues, las gringas! I've tried several times and just wasted flour.
I like how you tell what happens when you make a particular mistake. "Too much lard, they become brittle... if you don't rest the dough, it won't bubble up". That's very helpful, I'm excited to do this recipe!

Watching this makes me think of childhood. My mom made tortillas by eyeballing everything and they turned out perfect every time. But, she couldn't tell me how much to use so I never could get it right. This looks much more repeatable! Thank you Gaby!

I grew up in El Paso, and my mother’s best friend, Maria taught her how to make flour tortillas. Her written instructions did not include typical measurement references, rather, “one half pan of flour”, “one hand of lard”, etc… I still have Maria’s original recipe tucked away. Good memories!

Okay, so I have been on YouTube looking for the best way to make tortillas. I have tried several channels regarding the process of making tortillas. I have not been very satisfied with the outcome, until now. Your technic of making tortillas is the best I have seen and tried. The outcome of my tortillas were exactly like yours. Soft and pliable even when I rewarmed them. Thank you for being the real deal💓

After 42 yrs of marriage to my mexican sweetheart I am Proud to be able to serve him your Delicious Tortillas. I’m not sure about never buying tortillas again from the store but this learning how to make them myself definitely makes me want to make them myself and only buying them as a last resort. Thank You So Much for the Easy to follow

I miss my grandpa's cooking. Everyday after school he would make fresh flour tortillas with chorizo and beans for a snack. Until dinner. I just might make flour tortillas again.

This is the only time I've seen tortillas made without baking powder. I realize baking powder makes things rise, so I'll have to try making some tortillas without the baking powder and taste the difference. Thanks for the recipe and demonstration.

My wife's abuelita used to say, concerning round tortillas, "they don't go in rolling". There's no need to be concerned about the shape 'cause they'.re just going to be eaten. Rather, are they soft and pliable?

Oh, if ONLY I had seen your video before my many, many, failed attempts at flour tortillas! I probably made 50 failed batches, I think all because I never knew to use HOT water let the dough REST! Now, I think I'll try it again! 😀 Thank you so much!
