This Flour Tortilla Hack Will Save Taco Night! With this easy tortilla hack recipe you'll never have to buy soft flour tortillas ever again. Home made flour tortillas are easy and tasty, and these tortillas made with pork lard are super soft. The use of a heated tortilla press makes perfect round flour tortillas every time!

Ingredients:
450g (750 mL / 3 cups) all purpose flour
7 mL (1½ tsp) coarse salt
10 mL (2 tsp) baking powder
100g lard
250 mL (1 cup) warm - hot water

Method:
Place flour, salt, baking powder and lard in a food processor.
Pulse until the contents look like wet sand.
Turn the machine on, and slowly drizzle in the water until a dough ball forms.
Allow to run for 1 minute or so after the dough ball forms.
Take the dough out of the machine and let rest in a covered bowl, or wrapped in cling film for 30-45 minutes.
Portion the rested dough into 16 balls that weigh around 50g each.
Cover and let rest 10-15 minutes.
Heat your tortilla press over a medium high burner, and press each ball individually for 15-20 seconds.
Lift the top plate and turn over and continue cooking until done.

Thanks for watching Everyone! Big shoutout to @Chuds Bbq for the help on this one - Bradly has a great channel you should check it out.
*As always the recipe is in the description box... Though I have come to realise that even some longtime YouTube viewers don't know that the description box exists - so I may have to make a video about it.*

This man really made this video without putting an affiliate Amazon link for a cast iron tortilla press in the description - what a legend

The sound the dough makes as its being squeezed could probably be used in horror movies

Real Talk Time. My family has a genetic factor that puts us at severe risk from lung infections. Although take out is an option for us, not everyone delivers, and not everything can be reheated to be made free of contagion and still be the same thing. My wife dreadfully misses being able to eat at our local Mexican Restaurants, mainly due to how they make their tortillas. I've tried....I end up with something that's more flat-bread like. I can never quite get it right. I really appreciate your efforts here, as I already have these tools at my disposal. This should cure that jones for her. Thanks!

The Chudd's BBQ channel has quickly become my favorite BBQ channel on YouTube over the past couple months. Pretty awesome seeing that one of my favorite cooking channels watches one ofy other favorites!

If you’re running out of bacon fat, you’re not eating enough bacon. Get with the program, Glen!

thank you for this video that actually uses the press on heat. It is made of cast iron, after all, but many people fail to grasp the fact that you can cook with the Great vid, new subscriber.

I can't thank you enough for this haha. I already had the same press, but had just determined it was only good for corn tortillas after getting no where with flour on it. I had been handrolling flour tortillas, making terrible shapes, taking forever, and making a mess. This worked amazing!

Glen, try flour tortillas with just some butter/margarine! It goes great with coffee. It’s a north Mexico staple!

Glen, love this technique! I too over fill my tacos, and found a method of holding my tacos to prevent all the goodies from oozing out. Take your little finger and fold the end up, holding your finger in place to reinforce and hold in the fillings, and what do you know, you can even put more goodies into your taco!!! Please give this a try! My way to pay you back for all your good tips and making my cooking ever more

My jaw actually legit dropped seeing this! I have been doing mine in a cast iron pan and rolling them out with a pin. They are always slightly wonky, but my mission is clear now. What a fantastic idea!

A lightbulb moment for me about a year ago: The taco stays level, the *head tilts* - no more filling in your lap. Love your videos!

Oooooh, I know of a certain Uncle in Canukistan who'd happily mill you out a big ol' Tortilla press from the finest titanium on the ol' Town Pump.

Descended from one of the many Rodriguez girls, my grandmother made tortillas, my mom too. It was not our mainstay, that was pasta. However, I was REALLY taught how to make tortillas by two Mexican Father-in-Laws. Secret, warm water [you got that X] AND the information that the fat/oil should be less than you think. In fact, it only has one purpose, to grease your hands! Do not add salt, do not add any other additives. [Milk, if you are making for kids who won't drink their milk!] I love your show... how much? A lot, you are clear, concise, fun! Love that Jules comes on at the end! ~Marie
