I have been trying to make descent tortillas for years with mild success. I followed your recipe to the letter. I made them for my granddaughter who loves tortillas. She has been sick with Covid this passed week and not feel like eating that much. After I took them over to her, she texted me "Grandpa Ron these are so good. They're like melting in my mouth. I love your tortillas so much, thank you". Thank you Villa you made my day!

I love how you don’t just cook the food, but you “teach” as you cook, and you say “why” you are doing something. I love that! :). Thanks for being a great teacher. 👍🏻

When i watched my mom and grandma make tortillas i never knew they had so many ingredients they learned from their own mothers. We didnt have YouTube back in the 70s and they barely had phones in the 50s. So these recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. Amazing how Mexican culture stays strong.

Thank you for this detailed accurate description of how to make tortillas. I had to use all butter but it worked just as well. I did not need them all so rather than make them i decided to freeze the balls and see if they will work next time i want some. They were excellent, i guess round will come with practice.

I searched all over town for a rolling pin. I only wanted home made tortillas from my mom. It was my bday. Doing it by hand like that is so genius and simple. We ended up using a glass cup. Now I’ll make tortillas for her when she visits. Your recipes have wowed my friends and family. You are awesome, thank you 🙏

Thank You! I always wanted to learn how to make tortillas!
My husband lost his job August 6, and once again we are trying to tighten our financial belt. So this afternoon I made these, and although they aren't pretty (Mine aren't that is) they are delicious! My husband grabbed one hot from the pan, and declared they are MUCH BETTER than store bought! I'm a happy girl! Subbed!

My grandma always made homemade tortillas and chili. To this day it is my all time favorite meal. Unfortunately she passed away some time ago, and I have been trying to get close to duplicating her tortillas for years now. I have tried countless recipes and variations and it was never quite right. After trying this recipe and your method, I feel like I've finally accomplished that task. Thank you so much for the video. It's made me and my family very happy.

This is a great recipe !!! I like that no lard is used so these feel lighter to me!! The key ladies is how thin she gets them to avoid that biscuit of flatbread texture . If you aren’t as good doing the pulling technique I suggest using a tortilla press to get it like 80% there then using a rolling pin for the last bit of stretching .

YOU are a great teacher! All the elements of top shelf instruction. The pace is just right, your voice is consistently firm but, gentle, even soothing to listen to! Your patience and understanding how even a simple recipe can still be daunting for some. You offer other techniques to do certain things which of course is definitely in the back of the minds of your audience. Therefore, you being cognizant this will happen and demonstrating alternative methods is gold. Thank you so much for such a great instruction on making tortillas! I’m going to utilize your methods cause I’ve always wanted to make them. I will now search for an authentic recipe to make deep flavor refried beans by you! I hope you have if not, i hope you read my comment and get inspired to do one! Thank you again!

I love this video. My mom is estranged from my grandma, and so how to make tortillas was never passed down in my family. I hear all these cute stories about women cooking tortillas with their mom and grandmother and aunts and it makes me sad that I didn’t have that. I kept trying and failing to make tortillas on my own and felt each failure personally, feeling like my Mexican roots were just out of reach. I kept trying though, and I’m so glad to have found this video, for the first time i made delicious tortillas!

The technique you used to stretch with your hands reminds me of growing up watching my Mom and Tia's do it back in Texas!
