When I lived on Ludlow street in the mid 00’s, a Turkey sandwich from Katz’s was around $12. Pricey but delicious and it was so big you ate it over two sittings. Moved uptown and went back maybe a few years later and it had jumped to $16. Ok. Have not been there in over a decade even though I pass it often. Have not been back because I hear the same sandwich is now something like $26! Pass.

I don't know if Katz is overrated but I do know I love it, I love their corned beef sandwiches not so much the pastrami, I had never had pastrami so I asked the waitress for a sample not my fav, and I bring my own mustard when I go to Katz, French's Yellow Mustard, I don't like deli mustard

It's literally a sandwich with abundant smoked meat, buy Costco meal packs, halal carts gyros or pizza is preferable choice to me over this, tbh.

And go there twice a a year when I visit my family..I get one to eat there and one to go..

I kind of wish this were new York’s most expensive sandwich. As someone who keeps glatt kosher, that sandwich in a kosher restaurant is probably pushing $30 if not more and i’m sure it’s worse quality.

You know whats really good at Katz's that gets no attention, the turkey. Its fresh sliced turkey breast. Have it with mayo, lettuce, tomato, salt pepper. Delicious. As a NYER, I can get the pastrami in other places.
