Joint noises 😵💫
They are usually always a point of worry with people that have arthritis because joints start making these foreign noises 💥
Popping, cracking, crunching- they can actually be NORMAL. Noises do not indicate more damage in most situations.
Noises are typically referred to as crepitus and are very common with arthritis. There are a lot of theories why these happen but no one seems to know for sure 👀
Unless these noises are accompanied by significant pain (5/10+) meaning if every time you hear the noise you feel significant pain or if you fell or had a recent injury that brought on a popping noise…the noises likely are not dangerous ✅
If you do fall into one of those categories above- these noises could be indicative of something else going on inside your joint and may require further intervention and assessment ⚠️
Joint noises can be annoying and they can be frustrating. It can be possible to reduce them or even get rid of them completely in some cases with strengthening and optimizing the way you move 🙌🏼
Other situations, the noises seem to stay no matter what you do 😵💫
Take a deep breath and remember- they usually aren’t dangerous and are not a sign of “more damage” happening! ☝🏽
Keep those joints, even if they’re crunchy, moving in ways that feel good 💕
