13-year-old rescues sister from kidnapping using slingshot

Police say 13-year-old Owen Burns is being hailed a hero after he used a slingshot to rescue his 8-year-old sister from being kidnapped, striking the 17-year-old suspect in the head and chest. NBC News’ Steven Romo reports.

Truly a hero. He says he's not that great of a shot, but in those moments, people can do incredible things. And I think he said he ran outside after those shots & grabbed his baseball bat. I'm certain he would've been able to save her that way, too. But the slingshot was way cooler.

Sounds like his sisters a fighter too. The cop said the kidnapper covered her mouth, she must have fought and when he let go she screamed. So glad this turned out ok and I hope that 17 year old is locked away for life

AWESOME, Owen...you are a HERO!!!! How very SAD that his mother's first response to his actions was that she "thought he was lying." Wow. I hope she can do better with her son in the future.
