Hello. I work as a nurse, too. I’m 24 days post injury. Grade 3. First couple days I couldn’t lift my arm over my head either. Now I pretty much have most my range of motion back but I tried doing one push the other day and it definitely set me back. Ever since the push up I’ve had severe pain in the ac joint. I’m seeing two orthopedic docs. Neither pushed surgery but the 2nd informed me to get 100% back in the gym it’s usually the way to go.

They both want to see me back in 6 weeks. Thanks for video and your input. I love the gym and can’t imagine life wo it.
This is a rough injury, hoping for the best.

Thank you Paul

Thank you for posting your road to recovery. I’m day 20 on a grade 3 from a dirt bike accident. My bump is significantly larger unfortunately but feel the same way now better every day and mentally getting better and more confident. Don’t think I’ll go surgery route due to recovery time. I’m missing gym, riding ect but more important to me is getting back to work. I’m a diesel mechanic and been on office duty the first two weeks now back to turning wrenches

This helped alot thank you!!!! Omg I'm only on my day 10. I've watched your previous videos and I feel alot more confident about the future with this injury! I've kept it moving pretty much since day 1 without a sling too. It really does help. I have mobility in my arm and less pain

I knew it. It does not feel normal. I told that to my Dr. Thank you for your videos.

Thanks for the vids. Looking forward to hearing your latest update. I'm 18 days from grade 3 separation. Mountain bike crash. My surgeon straight up said "no surgery" to me. I'm avid into BJJ and heavy weightlifting so I'm hoping to be able to return to those. Your progress gives me hope 🙏🏻💪🏻

Thanks for sharing your experience. I find it helpful to hear from someone who is dealing with this in real life. I just busted up my shoulder on a Mtn. Bike crash two days ago. I have the ‘bump’, I have the pain, I have pretty much the same condition as yourself when it first happened to you. Anyway, it seems your recovery is moving along very well. This gives me hope. I just would say that you may consider waiting several more months to even think about a Surgery. Personally I wouldn’t mess with a good thing so far, as you meyyour happy with where you are. It would risky to open things up there, as you may Fck it up again by going under the knife.

Your recovery has gone well so far by the looks of it and your lump isn't very large, in comparison I'm 5 months post injury (type 3 ac joint separation). I basically can't do any pushing movements in the gym with weight without pain ranging from 2/10 - 9/10 pain, I've only recently gone back to the gym after 5 months and was just doing dumbbell rehab at home. Now I have access to cable machines at the gym, I can really feel how screwed my shoulder is, so I'm going to be pushing for surgery. I stopped seeing rapid improvements after 2 months and was able to gain strength back in all the exercises that didn't hurt (so basically anything that isn't a pushing movement apart from behind the neck overhead press for some reason).

Thanks for all your videos, I recently suffered a grade 3 tear as well and after 1 week I am able to move it around a bit and taking a similar approach to you. Any recommendations on a video for KT taping? Wondering how you taped yours. Thanks again!

Thanks! Any updates on this? Just earned myself a Grade 3 AC Dislocation falling off my dirt bike. And, I'm also a lifter, so the cosmetics bothers me. I'm theorizing people with more muscle mass will display less of the defect, so I'd love to see how you're doing now.

It has been 2 years since this video how are you doing now? Does the shoulder still feel uncomfortable or has it been recovered 100% ?

I have full range of motion but I have a bump on my shoulder and pain below collarbone. Should I continue gym or take a break for a week or two

Hope your recovery is going well, brother. I'm going thru the same thing here (grade 3). My shoulder is pretty much back to normal but I don't like the way it looks. Debating on getting the surgery. Please update if you ever get the surgery!
