As someone who has ADHD, based on what you said I can confirm that it's starting to rain outside, and I need to do another load of laundry before going to bed tonight.

Autistic gal here, with strong suspicions of being ADHD too (not officially diagnosed yet). Coffee spins me up enough to get into the flow / creative zone. Add music to drown out the accoustic frequency interference, and I can go hours designing electronics or doing other stuff.

I’m diagnosed with ADHD, but sadly too much caffeine gives me anxiety 😟

I highly recommend the book "ADHD 2.0". I loved it so much, I hady wife read it and it helped her (as someone married to someone with ADHD). The analogy they use in the book is that ADHD is like having a race car engine but with bicycle brakes. Turns out that even physical exercise can strengthen those brakes too.

As someone with ADHD *and* a seizure disorder, I just die because I can't have caffeine.

I’ll never forget I had a high school teacher for 3 out of my 4 years because he kept moving up a grade each year. He recommended to me one day, that I drink coffee before school since he saw the same signs of ADHD in me that he also had at my age. Kid you not my grades got so much better 😂

Diagnosed at 40. Looking back at why everyone during my adult life said caffeine made them squirrely and unable to sleep was so confusing to me, I just didn't have that problem. I thought they were exagerrating, until I was diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with ADHD about 25 years ago. Medication was a game changer for me. I no longer struggled completing tasks, problem starting tasks on time, became a great student, no longer doodled on my paperwork or stared out the window. It really does help, but now not so much. I think it's the persistent depression. I don't have that positive mindset I used to have. I feel cursed and hopeless.

It's weird cuz I feel like I can focus better but then if I focus on the wrong thing it sends me into a spiral of anxiety

Diagnosed as a child but never really took medication until about 5 years ago. Vyvanse literally changed my life. I don’t even drink coffee anymore unless I’m taking a tolerance break from my medication. I can actually get stuff done and the sloppy, undisciplined mess that is my brain finally behaves the way I want it to. It gave me the freedom to build healthy habits, meditate, and take care of myself.

I grew up in a very European household, so drinking coffee even if it was just a little coffee with lots of milk was something that I've been doing since I was about 6 years old. Bur up until when I started taking adhd medication this year, I never really understood why people would get so bothered by caffeine, it never made me more energetic it just kind of made my brain better, but I couldn't explain why. Now I have a cup of coffee and it's like 😯

Such a good, concise way of putting it! Strengthens/stimulates the brakes. 👍

It's almost 4am & I'm drinking a coffee having woken up just now & when I've finished it I'll go straight back to sleep! I do this 2 or 3 times every night 😅

Taking magnesium and zinc helps to. These two minerals are hella important yet a vast majority people are deficient. They are one of the literal blocks that allow "controlling the breaks" in the brain so to speak.

At least in regards to physical body. My body rests, no restless leg, I'm not always moving. But also mentally, I'm more focused and relaxed at same time, less zoning out, etc. Because I'm properly resting, breaking, my body can be properly active as well. (I have ADHD btw)

Drinking coffee or matcha tea (or other types of green tea) is what I sometimes like to do when coping with The Rage (TM) or, less often, anxiety. And yes, it does work, especially when it comes to those two mentioned above, but I also enjoy the calming effect of a hot drink itself, which also helps with living in the moment / mindfulness stuff (yet one should always have their limits).
