I once drank a cup of black coffe on an empty stomach before meeting friends and as soon as I stepped out of the bus, I had a panic attack. Since then, I only drink one cup every once in a while and only when I ate enough beforehand - I mean, since I have ADHD, it makes me sleepy sometimes. By now, my caffeine intake is mostly limited to my intense green tea consumption

I've been through "hell" since high school, and this "black poison" made most of my life worse! Migraines, eating disorders, stomach ulcers, tachycardia, sleeping problems, painkillers abuse, excessive anger... I quitted coffee 6 months ago, and the quitting process was very very DIFFICULT for me but, Thank God, now I'm FREE! And I feel more relaxed and healthier sipping my cup of heavenly green tea.

It's times like these I'm glad I'm deathly anaphylactic to caffeine. Also, I'm loving the more frequent cameos of characters like L, Komi, and Levi in recent videos!

Recently I realized that my anxiety was getting so bad that I was just paralyzed with fear and unable to live. Once I stopped drinking caffeine everything changed. I just feel loose and relaxed. And most importantly not scared.

as a Japanese native speaker, I love how you put Japanese anime and Japanese words randomly. You’ve made my day better :)

Having too much caffeine can definitely induce anxiety and panic attacks. But there is a sweet spot to where it makes you feel happy, alert, and more confident. At least it does can for me. I have ADHD and a bit of a chemical imbalance, so having one large coffee in the morning is exactly what I need to get myself regulated for the day. Not sure if other people can relate to this though.

Last year I was drinking 400-600mg of caffeine a day. Over the last few months I noticed the toll it was taking on my body, I was constantly fatigued, my focus was off, and my anxiety was off the charts. I started drinking less and less and the headaches were brutal but I’ve been off for a few weeks now and am feeling great!

I've been trying to quit for a two and a half months now. I initially tried to cold turkey it, which resulted in severe anxiety - and panic attacks. I kinda skipped the headache stage and went straight into the nightmare stage.

Did the smart thing, and worked myself down. I think I'm finally in the clear. I'm just drinking a Pepsi or Mountain Dew a day now.

Compared to my old daily intake of 200 - 400mg a day, I think I'm doing pretty good!

My undiagnosed OCD is triggered by caffeine, but mostly when I don't get good sleep, so I try to get sleep as often as I can.

I quit Coffee/Caffeine 4 months ago, first few weeks were brutal but one of the best decisions of my life I've made.. My anxiety & depression have melted away, I feel like I'm glowing with natural energy and no more brain fog. I don't think people realize how doped up they are on this stuff, literally...it's so engrained in our society it's insane and no one ever questions it.

EDIT: Forgot to add....I've had the best sleep of my life, feel like I'm a teenager again I can sleep so good.

There are indirect or maybe even direct antidepressant and neuroprotective effects of caffeine. Just don't over do it to where it's causing anxiety.

I quit caffeine cold turkey over a year ago, and at the same time I developed post-covid chronic fatigue (basically reducing my physical and mental capacity in terms of how much I can handle to 5% of what it used to be. Now it’s about 20%).
Quitting was extremely hard: it literally felt like this thick, grey veil was in front of reality, I don’t know how else to describe it. Had 0 drive and 0 feeling of aliveness for pretty much a month. That in itself motivated me to continue because the severity of your withdrawals also tell you how addicted you were.
Because of my illness, I have become extremely sensitive and VERY aware of what effects things have on my body. I also do a lot of meditation to not go crazy because I’m still unable to work again, which also develops more awareness of your body.

Every now and then I take some caffeine, and man… Caffeine literally feels like cocaïne it’s absolutely bonkers how unaware people are of it’s effects.
What I notice straight away when drinking caffeine is that all the connection with how your body truly feels is lost: you instantly get this energetic and motivated feeling to do stuff, even if your body is totally fatigued or not up for it. This in itself is dangerous because accumulated fatigue leads to burnout, chronic fatigue, panick attacks, etc.
Secondly I always notice just how much it chemically enhances your mood. The level of euphoria I feel when drinking caffeine is literally on the level of hard drugs I used to do when I was younger lol. So those two things are very dangerous when used compulsively: loosing contact with how your body truly feels and loosing contact with how you emotionally truly feel. I think caffeine is the substance that largely fuels this crazy society with so much people burning out, both physically and emotionally.
I do however still think, if used responsibly, caffeine can be an amazing tool in your toolbox to sometimes use to boost productivity of energy.

I can’t recommend anyone enough to at least quit it for 3-5 months. The level of freedom in itself is worh the pain because I hated it so much how dependent I was on it. Then when you go back to drinking caffeine it’s way more enjoyable.

I actually take a 200 mg caffeine tablet (generic NoDoze) upon arising and it significantly elevates my mood for about 2 hours, so at least for me it has a positive effect on my brain chemistry.

Interestingly enough I have been taking note of the effects of caffeine on my body this year. I've always been an avid coffee drinker. It had gotten to the point where I could practically drink a cup and take a nap. Then, without warning....my body decided that caffeine in ANY dose was too much for my body to handle. I could drink one cup and I would be almost manic. Of course, I didn't notice this at first, this has been an ongoing occurrence and again, I suspected something was off a while ago, but REALLY took some time this year and honed in on the problem. It seems that one cup of coffee is just too much for my body to handle anymore. Tea with a lower caffeine content doesn't make me feel like i'm crawling out of my skin.

It's super important to evaluate these things at all junctures of our lives. Like I said...I LIVED on coffee. Hanging out in diner's and drinking coffee until the sun came up...those were my highschool years. But now, I drink one cup and I'm set for the rest of the day and will probably have trouble sleeping. Know thyself.

Finally! Someone made a sensible video on the effects of caffeine. It just doesn't suit me. Makes me hyperactive, sets my heart racing, makes me uneasy, sometimes pulish too.. so, no caffeine for me.

Caffeine is my drug of choice, and I drink way too much coffee, occasionally drinking a full 12cup pot a day. Never struggled with anxiety, but I have waves of depression and it acts as a motivator just to get out of bed during those times. My doctor and I have spoken about it many times over the years, and he said as long as I can manage to cutback on the amount of sugar and creamer used, that its not a huge issue unless I start to notice it having an effect on my mental health. Thanks for the video!!

Love that you used Gojo and Itadori, two of the most hyper characters in JJK, as references in a caffeine video.
