I feel this is so illegal! Especially if you know you are not doing anything to warrant a termination. So tired of toxic environments.

I was put on a PIP, met the goals and the ED made up something to still terminate me. It didn't feel good but my health improved with leaving the org. Thank you for your insights!

Same thing happened to me. I got placed on a PIP that had unrealistic goals. My director said my performance was pitiful and that I needed more accountability. I was then given 2 job roles for the same pay, forced to work at a facility 90 miles away from home, and consistently getting chewed out by everyone because nothing was ever going right. It was a terrible feeling going into work. Motivated me to find a new job. Got an over 35% raise. Putting in my 2 weeks felt like such a relief. At the end of the day, the way my director and boss treated me and set me up, ended up helping me. No hard feelings, I'll hold no grudges or ill will toward anybody.

Being fired is not the end of the world. Accept it and move on. There so many opportunities for you, just be patient. Do not be tempted to have victim mentality.

Thank you for including the statement about how cruel and ineffective PIPS (Performance Improvement Plan) are. I was put through one 20 years ago and of course it did not work. I was not performing due to a severe depression. The PIP made it even worse. It's very rare that someone is purposely exhibiting poor performance, sadly most companies still do not consider the mental health at the root cause.

I nearly lost my sanity to this. Now I never stay in a job more than 2 years

I was supposed to be put on a PIP in my last job. My manager suggested that I take a few days off before I start the PIP. I did and, before I went back to work, I submitted my resignation. It was not the job I wanted, I was not growing professionally, and my pay was unsatisfactory to me. It is not that it wasn't a good fit; it was a terrible fit.

Brilliant, thank you for this great video!!! After 13 years I went through many of those signs, including being moved to a different (worse) division, and felt so unhappy. But luckily 1 year later I found a new job and I am extremely glad. Good luck for all who are having difficulties!!

Every point is correct when a management decide to throw an employee out with the help of other team members, how even a extra space in an email gets documented against you. I faced it in person. one key point to remember, we should leave the toxic working environment and move on in life to live better. Simple.

You hit the nail on the head for me. I was placed on a pip. I never seemed to please my boss but I was being given positive feedback that I I was meeting the goals. Since I was a manager in two office clinics it was something that happened that was out of my control that got me laid off. I still remember that I had a meeting giving me the opportunity to sign a paper to say I was resigning and that it would not reflect my record or to accept that I was being fired. Of course I signed and was given a severance package too. But I can’t help to think it was not my fault. I went through a breakdown and my mental health was affected. It took me over a year to get over it. I can now say that I’m much happier now doing a job that I love. Thanks for your positive thoughts and seeing the upside of things.

I work remotely and over the last month or so, I noticed my boss, the CEO, was ignoring/avoiding me. Turns out they were selling the company to another, and my position was going to be eliminated. Good thing I was already miserable and found another job before they laid me off.

Thank you, Brigette. You are the finest.
One thing is very much true. The business will always be as usual. There is no such thing as job security. We (all of us) tend to get comfortable in a workplace until the hard facts hit us about our peers, manager, and senior management; every single one is just there to mind their own good self and is ready to let you down whenever the sky gets grey.
Being prepared, always being on our toes, and ready to jump is a "have to" attitude.

If one, especially those you value, can't see your worth; it doesn't mean that you are unworthy !!.

I had a PIP where I was supposed to have 90 days to “improve, ” but I was fired after 30.

In my current job, my ex boss, who fired me, is a regular customer. His sister and my sister are best it's uncomfortable. I refuse to speak to him or his sister when they come into the store, even if it puts my job at risk. I told my sister to never have her and I at the same social functions.
When you're fired from something, you want to move on from that company and those people, not constantly keep bumping into them.
