You’re reporting was fine; the headline is problematic, tho. GAO made clear that no ‘normal’ NASA program of the past would have made the super-ambitious Dec 2025, either; much less a radically new design/config/conops with tons of things that NASA SHOULD have demonstrated by now- like cryo in orbit refueling including at scale- but now totally left up to SpaceX (and BO, for that matter). The only reason we’re even going as fast as we are is because of SpaceX. And btw: rest of basic Artemis/SLS/Orion won’t be ready by 2025, either. - Dave Huntsman

Government Beurocracy is the big problem. Progress is always slowed by beurocracy, it is really bad when they have a turf war between themselves, with progress being the big victim. Still no viable exhaust deflector on the launch great success by SpaceX using their testing and development process.... well done.

US taxpayers should unite to file suit against ULA for launching any and all taxpayer-funded payloads using SLS, the overdue and ridiculously overpriced Senate Launch System for exactly the same reason. Why should taxpayers spend gargantuan amounts of money per launch when other providers can do the launching for far less? The Shuttle was retired partially due to cost, while its replacement costs even more per launch. Ridiculous.

two - 5 slim strap on enjectable side rockets
could be a better help to get ships up higher with more cargo

Maybe a top second stage that parts into two and oyxgen fuel pods
removed and linked to moon orbit rockets.

or slide apart to eject pods of fuel.
