SpaceX technically has a launch license that they can use to launch ITF 5 at anytime, they just cannot land the booster back at Starbase.

Let's also remember that stf6 is also basically ready!

NASA's strict standards, yea right. They lost two shuttles and starliner sucks

It comes across as absurd to hear NASA even mentioned in the conversation of the race to reaching the surface of Mars or even the moon.

Actually, SpaceX has landed successfully, the starship once before, but not from orbit.

Starship has landed on but it was only from a height of 10 KM ( SN15 ) I believe

Also if it's uncrewed then the optimum planet position doesn't effect humans on board so could technically still launch them at any time.

Spacex can't be on Mars in 2026 unless they launch by Dec 2024 to intercept Mars at the right time. They don't have a ship ready to launch to Mars. Their first Mars excursion starship vehicle could be ready by 2026 for a launch during that window. This vehicle should have non-perishable supplies for humans, and robots to explore or begin habitat construction for future crewed missions.😊 fuel capacity limitations would preclude launching at "anytime" to travel to the red planet.😊

Dropping the IFT-5 booster in the Gulf of Mexico is a very expensive waste, but it is best to launch ASAP and try out a zero-g firing of Starship engines. This will determine if full orbital missions can proceed.

Of course, there's no way for us to know for sure, but I think NASA and the FAA slowed down SpaceX innovation and testing. That's why we might be on a NASA timeline.

I'm full of "guesses", and mine today says that Elon Musk will be able to answer the question with the FAA and will launch Starship next weekend! But these are just my "guesses"...😉💖🚀🗽🌟🌹💫

The booster just veered away from it's intended soft landing area .. whew glad we caught it ( loophole) instead of damaging the dirty gulf of Mexico 😂❤

You go over the head of the FAA and go direct to Administrator Michael Whitaker BOSS the Secretary of Transportation.Pete Buttigieg whom elon musk had a very interesting phone call about free starlink to hurricane victims 🤔

Leave the FAA to airliners and small aircraft

I doubt FAA would authorize Starship launch at the same time (same day) as crew-8 undocking. Someone is probably misreading the FAA/FCC notams, notmars, etc. If, big if- FAA licenses launch of starship it won't be made public b4 Friday or Saturday at the earliest. They're still attempting to show their authority on the matter by control of information about licensing the launch. 😮😢

The new x post the FAA doesn’t talk anymore about a late November launch. 🎉

Smart people could land people on Mars during the next couple of decades but can't put a self-sustaining colony on Mars or the Moon, or a great one on a 20 square mile piece of the Earth.
Time to cancel Artemis 4 and beyond.

Environmental analysis could still go on but why delay the flight over it. It’s petty and intentional

Elon is working very hard to be in Trump's cabinet. Will there even be a Starship launch next year?

Musk always announces ridiculously optimistic timelines that SpaceX never meets. Realisticly we won't see a mission to Mars before the 2030's.
