Mike's dominant muscle group are his eyelids

Not locking out on bench made the world of difference for me.

Took me 10 years to find that out.

While i like doing bench press, doing dips makes my chest sore for the next 2 days and the pump is unreal 😂

I swear Dr Mike is in my subconscious all day long. He guides me through life like some kind god.

Even my wife is sick of hearing about how Dr Mike would do things.

Yeah, a genetic predisposition to grow to monster size and strength under weight training stimulus explains both Ronnie Coleman and Sam Sulek; both of whom made tremendous strides way before adding PEDs to their workouts; especially Ronnie.

I, on the other hand, have got almost no genetic predisposition to being big and strong. I've decided not to worry about any of that stuff. I put in the hard work and the end results are what they are.

I feel this.... ive had a ton of frustration growing my chest muscles....and my triceps seem to engaging better. I keep to the basics, but smaller gains on my chest excercises than other groups.

Used to think I was the hardest worker in the room until I realize it's just good genetics, I'm just an average A hole with great parents.

This is my hams/glutes taking over for my quads in literally everything. I cannot grow my quads to save my life.

I've been struggling with this for a long time, with very poor results in some exercises. I think it is related to mild neurological damage/variance like ADHD or ceberal palsy.

I recently finally managed to start connecting with my biceps, so here is my solution. Very low weight and a high amount of reps, just one set but almost daily. I'm slowly increasing the weight, making sure my body is not exaggeratedly engaging other muscles. It is boring, but I can feel my muscle control slowly improving.

I really wish I had realized this years ago, I thought my genetics sucked, but it was just poor muscle control.

Bench press and machine chest press usually results in minimal activation of the chest for me, so I've ditched all presses and replaced them with flyes. I actually find I get a decent bicep pump from flyes but I feel it in my chest more than I ever did when doing presses

It’s extra funky when these things changes over time.

When I was a teenager I had no problem feeling my chest on push exercises. Now years later after being away from the gym for a very long time, it’s been very finicky for me to feel anything in my chest, and I only end up feeling it in my shoulders and triceps.

Most of it is probably due to poor posture and weak muscles leading to bad form, and I’ve had to learn homemade cues that engages my chest again (the classic arch + chest out mental cue never worked for me), but it’s funny how teenage me who had no idea what he was doing never had any trouble getting a chest pump (despite my form no doubt being atrocious), while adult slightly more knowledgeable me has been struggling lol

I hear this complaint a lot with bent over rows and single arm dumbbell rows for the back or the lats. I tell people that I used to have that problem too but now that I'm in the advanced stage I can feel it much better even though almost all of my growth in my lats happened from the time period when I did not feel it

Not sure if Dr Mike is now reading my mind or the algorithm but I was just thinking about this exact issue.

Mike does fast twitch blinks, his face muscles get pumped and grow easily

Dips hit my chest and benching hits my triceps.
There must be something wrong with me...

My chest is weird... I feel my chest contracting, see it contracting, see it even twitch and shake close to failure on things like flies... but I do not FEEL fatigue in my chest at all. I just stop being able to perform the lift and I typically have to judge RPE/RIR based on my rep performance.

However, my chest gets sore, gets stronger, and it grows (it's actually arguably too big compared to my shoulders and arms in terms of aesthetics)... I just don't know why it never feels like it's fatiguing

I’ve had all those so it’s great to hear a very simple break down on a complicated subject thanks ❤

My triceps used to actually reach failure before my back or biceps on many back exercises, then I purposely started pulling with my biceps as well as my back, helped a lot
