As crazy and evil as he was, Kira's character design is AWESOME!! Like the way it changes when he looses his memories and becomes Light Yagami, where his eyes soften and his expression is a bit rounded, and then he gets his memories back and his eyes become sharp and THE RED ACCENTS AND EVERYTHING!!! He is such a well written antagonist. Perfect student gets an easy way to kill people and his downfall is so fast. He justifies it by starting by killing only bad people but then he starts to kill to protect his identity and crimes.
Also since japanese society puts so much pressure onto the people, the way someone who adheres to those standarts to the fullest hides a murderer in himself due to the pressure is a good social commentary. On the other hand he is only perfect on the outside, his insides are rotten. Kind people are the ones perfect on the inside -_-
