bro oversimplified the manga ending so much. In the manga Light begs ryuk to kill everyone all everyone in the warehouse Ryuk begins to write in the death note but reveals that he wrote Light's name and Light starts to beg Ryuk to undo it right before he dies.

Ryuk was never an ally, he just wanted some fun. If he were an ally he would have helped light a lot more. He said from the start that when light dies it's going to be him writing his name in his notebook.

Ryuk in the anime at the beginning said that light would die to his death note and the only reason he killed light is because he wasn’t sure how long he would have to stay in the human world if light didn’t die then and instead went to prison

Ryuk wasn’t on anyone’s side, but did kinda pity Misa for being in love with a man who didn’t love her back. Even he noticed how poorly Light treated her.

The Manga goes like this.

Light begs mikami to kill everyone, but Mikami realizes that Light is not a god because the notebook is a fake. Then Light begs Misa to kill everybody but then he realizes Misa is in a hotel away from there. Light then begs for Takada to kill everyone but Takada is dead. Then Light turns to Ryuk to kill everybody, Ryuk says ok and Light taunts everybody. Then Ryuk tells Light that the only one that is gonna die is him. Light yells at Ryuk and begs for his life. After fourty seconds, Light recieves a heart attack and dies.

The managa is darker imo cause he grovels in front of everyone and is humiliated by ryuk as well before dying. Whereas in the anime he gets to be alone and as ryuk kills him he sounds at least somewhat reminiscent and fond of light despite not having a particular alignment.

I think you switched the two around cuz in the Manga, Light doesn’t die on a staircase and instead dies in front of Near. In the anime, Light does die on a staircase. In both scenarios, Ryuk kills Light.

In the anime Light is the last thing L sees before he dies and before Light dies L is the last thing he saw...if only Light never touched the death note maybe they would have met in a better way and probably become friends 😢
