Probably one of the most interesting villains in Anime/Manga to date.

One small but crucial detail I noticed during the show. The glistening in the eyes. It was an indicator of when someone had been “killed” by Kira, or if the notebook had taken effect. But people like L or Near didn’t have that glisten in their eyes, kinda like an unofficial immunity or something. But at the very end of L’s life we that shining in his eyes, showing that even he wasn’t above being killed by Kira. Also one other thing, when Light lost his memory of the Death note he had a second glisten in his eyes. A minor detail but one that I very much appreciate.

Death note fandom has the potential to stay alive forever!

Character development of Light Yagami throughout the Death Note, imo:

• A *Hero* in 1st episode
• Becomes an *Anti-Hero* in eps. 2 after killing fake L (Lind L. Taylor). From now on, he is both, Hero and Anti-Hero
• Starts becoming also an *Anti-Villain* with time in eps. 7 when he kills Naomi. Now, Hero part starts decreasing, and still an Anti-Hero too
• He is an almost perfect & morally pure Hero from eps. 17 - 24 when he has no ownership of Death Note
• Now, he IS an Anti-Villain when he manipulated Rem to kill L, Watari and herself in eps. 25. Still an Anti-Hero too, but this attribute starts decreasing
• Now, he is just an Anti-Villain when he killed Takada by fire in eps. 35.

For me, he got 'kind of' a redemption in the ending as he finally had *self-realization* that ''how good, morally pure and peaceful I was before finding that Death Note'' through the flashbacks of his early life while running.
