I started driving for Uber in 2014, in the Bay Area, at that time they were taking a flat 20%, I was making about 50-60 an HOUR!! Those days are long gone....fast forward to now, I haven't worked for Uber for a long time but have worked for Lyft, I live in the Sacramento area now and Lyft takes 60-70% of my fare and I average 18-20 and hour....it seems almost criminal, the amount of money they take from drivers.

These predatory companies used to claim the nearest driver to a passenger gets the first call. How times have changed.

I'm an Android user. I get frequent rides. What I don't like is the fact that Lyft is taking about 30% of the ride fees. Then have the nerves to lower your acceptance rate, because you don't want to take a 15-20 minute drive only to make $3; that is no profit to me.

My customers like me. Pay better, and I'll drive the 15-20 minutes. $3.00 only reimburses the gas I used, maybe. If it wasn't for drivers, they wouldn't have a company.

This is why I stopped driving for Lyft and switched entirely to Uber. On Uber I can drive for 10 hours straight and get rides non-stop Boom boom boom with the best nights making over 500 dollars in 1 night. With Lyft sometimes I'll wait 30 minutes for a single ride, even in busy areas. Lyft has too many hidden variables to their Algorithm, while Uber at least flat out tells you what will make you get more or less rides. People complain that Uber takes more money per fare than Lyft. I don't care, they pay me more and give me more rides. All that matters.

I’ve noticed I make more now than I did before the new law passed. I use an iPhone, drive a Honda, and I have been doing lyft for almost 4 years. I do touch my phone a lot, but usually when I’m at a red light or something. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I’m making $20-$25+ per hour as opposed to $17-$18/hour before.

Most my Lyft rides come when I work in Buffalo. I have 2 phones but the one I use for rideshare is my iPhone not my Android. It’s crazy how that would make a difference. Thanks for
The information!

If Lyft had better navigation, I wouldn't have to touch my phone as much to see where the hell I'm going. What this also means, is if you are running more than one app at a time (Lyft, Uber, DoorDash) and you're online with Lyft, you will get less rides from Lyft, simply by touching your phone to go back and forth between each app.

Thank you. My driving score is generally enigmatic, and dropped a point yesterday when I was using a second map while driving.

This is all about minimizing their losses. Younger drivers are statistically more likely to get into an accident. People who touch their phone a lot are distracted drivers, higher risk for a loss/accident, vehicles that cost less to insure are again an attempt at minimizing their loss (would you rather pay $15, 000 to replace a Kia Soul, or $120, 000 to replace a Mercedes G-Wagon?). Now Lyft's insurance has a HUGE $2, 500 deductible before they will pay for anything. And if someone gets injured in an accident during a ride, their insurance company carries up to $1 Million in coverage! Injury Lawyers know this VERY well and will go after that full $1 Million. So this all makes sense to minimize their losses / cost for their insurance which I'm sure is a massive cost to run their business.

Kinda scary that they know how much you touch your phone. And knowing that they can access your phone camera and literally watch you. Creepers. Lol. Independent Contractors watched by Big Brother. Something wrong there.

Last night I picked up a lady from the airport LAX and she was complaining how expensive her ride was from LAX to Santa Monica she said she was paying $50.00 USD and when I dropped her off my pay was barely $12.00 USD + $4 (bonus) lol 😆

So I’ve been working, however I don’t do it as often, I did get back to back rides, and one thing I’ve done, is that I do touch the screen, I do this to make sure what lane I’m supposed to be . Now I’m not getting back to back rides. Another thing I did, I drove for 1 hr to LA I had to drive back under my cost, having to deal with bad traffic, customer didn’t even tip. That was one complaint I gave to Lyft. I have excellent reviews. Now I don’t get much rides. And yes have a iPhone.

When I am close to completing a Quest in Uber, Uber seems to spread out my rides over 10-12 hours to accomplish that number, no matter how busy it is. Very frustrating, Many times, I will need just 5 more rides at 1 am, Quest ends at 4am, and Uber will start out of the blue to give me 55-minute rides where the pick-up location is 20-minutes away. There is no way I could make the Quest. Our Quests in the Washington area can earn well over $325, paying for our rental car that week. Worse, if we do not accept these long rides, our Uber driver rating is damaged as it is based on your acceptance and cancellation percentages. Uber will literally take me away from a high-demand area to pick someone up in an area where no person should ever expect an Uber to be and take them to a location where no one will need an Uber after I drop them off. They bend over backward to give you a carrot and make you sacrifice your hard-earned rating to get it. This also raises the prices in the busy area, for if I take these weird rides, there is one less Uber in the busy area where I am needed. This should just stop. It is really a forced dispatch service, or else we will punish you, kind of deal. This is not rideshare, it is a taxi service, with Louie telling us where to go.

They seriously need to give us control of the map when we're driving. If I'm sitting at a stop light and need to glance at the overall trip, I don't need to sit there and fight with the app. It takes five to ten touches to do something that only takes one touch on the other platform. Just sayin'.

It might just be a tie breaker....if there are enough drivers eligible for the same trip. If it's busy you'll get pings if slow you'll get less

I've been with Lyft for almost 2 years now. I use an Android and only touch the screen when i need to change music. And when I do not have a passenger with me. But i have been getting much less rides and this helped explain why. I was out for 2 hours this morning and only 2 rides 9.65 total just logged out. Not worth it for me and bonuses have reduced significantly.

Havent driven in 2 years but some of these are understandable because riders want a safe trip to their destination, especially if its a meeting or going to work. They dont want to have to run late or maybe miss the meeting all together because there was an accident.

Oh and Fluck an IPHONE. My guess is Apple has made it easier for them to listen to your conversations and turn on your camera when they want too.
