Does God ordain everything that happens?

Although man makes real choices, God hates evil and can never be the author of it, does it remain true that God governs everything including evil and can even have a good and wise purpose behind it? Well Genesis 50:20, Acts 4:27-28, Isaiah 10, 1 Samuel 2:25, Judges 14:1-4 and many other Scriptures illustrate this. If God can use the murder of His Son - the greatest evil ever - to accomplish His good and loving purposes, why can't He do it for smaller evils? Do we really believe in totally meaningless, pointless evil which is separate from God's control and power? Chaos and anarchy would be the result if this is the case.

And yes it's biblically true that God decrees and determines everything (Eph. 1:11, Prov. 16:4, 9, 33, Psalm 135:6, Isaiah 46:9-10, Job 14:5, Lam. 3:37-38, Prov. 21:1) but it's also true that we cannot comprehend the mechanics of it. It is man and the evil angels that commit the evil by choice but God has divine rulership over all of it. How can this not be true for an Almighty, eternal, all-knowing Creator of everything? Moreover, what "evil" really is, is decided by God, the Lawgiver. God cannot commit evil by definition and evil is not a substance or entity but the absence of God and His holy purity.

Did God cause me to invest my money for retirement in the wrong properties? I ended up losing everything. I planned to travel and enjoy life- is that wrong? Took me years to acquire what i lost in 2 years. It caused me mental illness and depression over the great loss. Is everything good and bad God's doing? Can we know why? I thought Satan steals...not God

It would seem that Leightonists look not to the scriptures as their guide to truth, but rather they thumb their chests, shake their fists at God and chant "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley.

Think like a Calvinist, live like an Arminian -Leonard Ravenhill
And I believe that this is the most biblical way to pursue the Christian life. Sovereign grace is true and cannot be denied or twisted in scriptures but we can go to far that way I believe towards hiding behind the sovereignty of God and then removing mans responsibility to seek God. Then we will not be winning souls. It’s very dangerous for young people or anyone nowadays to go head first into the truth of the sovereignty of God without an overview of the whole Bible and putting much prayer into understanding the word. But it does bother me that there is much hate going back and forth between both camps.

Wait wait...God hates evil/sin and yet scriptures you read may indeed say that he speaks adversity/evil (lamentations), which you conclude means to ordain such..? To ordain and permit are different, would you say? Even if only slightly nuanced?

How do you reconcile these? At the end of the video you say this is a mystery?

I understand that evil will be and that even the judgement of God will _look_ evil to the unrepentant but to allude that God may literally turn the hearts of men towards the wide gate as opposed to the narrow one is skating in thin ice. Or have I misrepresented your case?

Divine mystery my ass. You are forced to your conclusion because the Bible is convoluted.

TA --- In Calvinism the words decree, ordain, preordain, predestine, all mean that the Calvinist god is the planner, author and *cause* of everything that happens. If this is true then the Calvinist god is having a conversation with himself in this comment section via your and my YouTube accounts, right?
