Another great GameMaker title is Rivals of Aether, which is one of the most successful platform fighters outside of Super Smash Bros. It also has Steam Workshop support and a large community of modders. The modfing is done entirely through GML code, so it's a great way to practice your GML programming wiyhin the environment of a fleshed out game

If you just use "if" statements instead of "else if" statements it allows diagonal movement in any direction

I have Gamemaker to thank for one of my favourite games of all time - Pizza Tower. Serving as a spiritual successor to the Wario Land quadrilogy this is one of the most unhinged and Delightful 2d Platformers ever released. It's one of those games where everything just comes together. And paired with an iconic development and Loyal modding community, and you have a recipe for one of the defining games of the Gamemaker engine

GameMaker, back in the 8 era could make games with Parallax 3D, full 3D, fake, sprite-based 3D like Doom and isometric games.

Thanks for sharing. This is why I didn’t get Game Maker. The custom language is very limited in my opinion. Sticking with RPG Maker with JavaScript training and it’s a win win situation to make a game and learn something that can create or give you a job, in my opinion.

Can you make a fighting game in GameMaker? I have an idea for a game I wanna make that's a mix of fighting game and rpg.

Like there's an overworld and you can take some enemies out without having to fight them or beat them directly.

Welcome back, awesome video. Recently downloaded GM to use the 12 month licence I had hanging around of the old subscription model. Still undecided where to start do this is a great resource
