I had this problem in my right ear. I started gargling hydrogen peroxide just before bed for 5 minutes. I spit the foam out and without rinsing I went to bed. On and off throughout the weak my hearing for brief moments would be normal. Each time became longer and longer then normal just staid. Problem solved. (Update) A few months later I replaced my cotton pillow with a foam type pillow and the following morning the ringing in my ear returned. It felt like I had ear wax or water in my ear. I put some peroxide in my ear and a cotton ball and layed down on my side. After 20 minutes I flushed my ear out with warm water using the squeeze thing from an ear wax removal kit. Then put some more peroxide in my ear and a cotton ball. Instead of laying down I decided to go about my day with the stuff still in my ear. About half way through the day the peroxide started draining making a crackling sound along with a ticklish itchy feeling followed by sharp stabbing terrible pain. After a minute or two it was over and I could hear normal again. It felt like pressure building up behind a clog then suddenly breaking free. Next morning ringing in my ear for a little while then back to normal. I figured it's got to be the new pillow. I switched back to a cotton pillow and after trying several different styles I finnaly found one that works for me. One of those tube shaped couch pillows. Problem solved.

Will hearing aids help? I tried them, but the tinnitus (Blaring) became more amplified, so as soon as I got home from picking them up I put them back in the box. I suffer daily, does it take some time for the hearing aid to help reduce the tinnitus?

An MD is actually not the best source for tinnitus info. A hearing scientist or audiologist is more likely to have the real information.

I think tinnitus for me is due to food intolerances/allergies. I stopped all caffeine sources ie chocolate, coffee, black/green/mate tea even decaf and pulsatile/ringing tinnitus went away within days. Hearing came back to normal too. Another trigger is cinnamon. White chocolate was also a trigger even though it does not contain cocoa powder/caffeine. I think i’m intolerant to the entire cocoa bean, as white chocolate is made with cocoa butter
