Hey Chuck, I've been watching these comments for your responses. It's nice to hear that you plan on new videos soon. I miss watching your live weekly ones.
I was just watching my own videos of me practicing your exercises and it brought back memories of Singers Impact.
Fun times!
I have improved so much.
I did some work with Bel Canto, but your exercises helped me a lot too.
See you soon!

I think you deserves 1M subscribers tbh! You are the one and only vocal coach that i found helpful to train my voice. You inspired me coz youre barritone and born with low notes right? Im amazed how you can do head voice and i hope one day ill discover it, like my fav singer Ernie Zakri. My question is, can we do headvoice in low notes? Do we need to go higher in order to sing in headvoice as a male?❤️

I am struggling to do mixed voice, so wind up doing head voice, but I don’t like the sound of my head voice so I wind up using more chest voice. I don’t know if I’m doing mixed voice but sometimes I think I am; I can do the exercises but when it comes to singing a song all of the exercises go out the window (I mean you don’t sing a song with a bubble lip)

I feel like I still need to create my mixed voice. I can reach pretty good G4 now. My target is to come up to A4 and B4 (maybe some day)
But yeah 2 years ago it was still the G4 barrier. No clue how to do this.
The lowest I can go is like F2/G2.

There is a series by Anthony Frisell explaining mixed voice can usually only be achieved by bringing head voice down in the register so it overlaps the chest voice notes and eventually the singer, when producing low notes will automatically use mixed voice, and that will also smooth out the break because the singer will be mixing (using head voice) even before they get that far up in the scale. Have you heard of this way of learning mix? What do you think of this?

Hi, Chuck! Thank you for all the amazing videos helping people find their voice.

I am finding some trouble singing at, or near, my passaggio. The main thing that is a mystery to me right now is that I often get a vocal fry type effect going on when I maintain notes at my passaggio.

You gave me the tip to practice with a softer lower intensity voice and that definitely helps smooth out the transition. So my question is... what is causing this vocal fry type of sound here, and what are the natural practice steps to go from the softer sounds that are stable around the transition into a clearer fuller sound that can be applied to songs? Thank you so much!

edit: My uneducated guess is that my vocal chords are not trained enough at those notes to withstand the greater air pressure when singing louder... causing it to have a hard time maintaining even contact, leading to a vocal fry effect that can be felt/heard? I made this post as I was watching the video and just got to the "guh" exercise. I guess working on strengthening the mix like this would be the natural step forward. Let me know what you think :D

Do rock singers (like Bonnie Tyler and Freddie Mercury) pull chest?
And is that how they achieved their distorted but high chest range?

I really need to get a hold of my mix voice once and for all....
