What is GERD?

You’ve probably heard GERD mentioned before - it stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is the term given to the condition where your stomach acid backflows so frequently into your esophagus and throat that, over time, the lining becomes irritated and increasingly sensitive. Luckily, the condition can be managed by adjusting your diet or lifestyle - things like cutting back on fried foods and carbonated drinks. But if your symptoms don’t go away after a few weeks of lifestyle changes, you should talk to a gastroenterologist.

I don't want you to try and self-diagnose yourselves, but if what I've listed below matches yours, you'd better plan a check-up right away because I was told by my doctor before that it could've gotten worse if I didn't had a check-up sooner :

1. DIfficulty breathing. Try to inhale deeply and you would automatically know if you couldn't breath deeper than you usually could. Also, you have hard time automatically breathing when trying to sleep.
2. Chest Numbness. Due to trying to compensate with breathing normally, you would sometimes feel your chest feel numb for a few minutes.
3. Chest pains due to acid reflux. You would know this pain a few hours after eating a meal, regardless of what food it was, and it usually takes a long time (like around 2-3 hours) until it goes away on its own.
4. Nausea. Acid reflux is fucking up your stomach and now you feel like you want to vomit, regardless of whether you ate anything or not.
5. Strong acidic taste in mouth after vomiting. Yep, that's acid reflux.
6. Easily getting fulled after a few spoons, but because you're used to eating a huge portion, you don't feel the fullness immediately, only until your plate's finished.

What I was told to keep away from :
1. Coffee, carbonated drinks, alcoholic beverages, sweetened drinks are a huge NO NO. Stick to water.
2. Heavy meals.
3. Meat. I was told to eat less strong foods like congee or soups (that are not salty/spicy)
4. Milk. This shit is an automatic acid spawner for me. Proven and tested. 1 cup of this shit and it's all back to zero of GERD.
5. Salty/Spicy foods.

Took me around (estimately, if I could remember) 6 months until I fully recovered and all of the symptoms were gone.

I have acid reflux everyday but it gets worse when I think about going to bed or laying in bed. However when I decided I'm gonna get out of bed it goes away almost instantly

There’s only a burning feeling in my throat and I can’t pop my ears as well as a stuffy nose

I’m not experiencing the burning but I do vomit a lot and it feels like something is stuck in my throat but I’m not choking. Triggers over learned is cheese and greasy foods not supported. I take 40 mg of Omeprozole and Pantoprezol. At time I’m ok but sometimes it’s not. I have to have an upper GI Endoscopy in January praying that it’s and easy fix

I've been putting off looking into what GERD is cause I didn't wanna hear that it was really serious- but I'm glad I did. I very likely have this.

Recently, I've developed a somewhat constant nausea, and 3/4 of the way through eating a meal, I'll be overwhelmed by that nausea.

Time to see a doctor.

Can anyone tell me if the damage reverses? If the asophagus recovers?

Have an endoscopy done. You might have a hiatal hernia. Lose weight. Avoid carbonated drinks. Avoid spicy food. Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Wedge pillows help. Typically, if esophigitis heals, your symptoms calm down.
