I just don’t shop at Walmart unless I really must. I hate their system of not having enough employees and making customers do the work and then treating them like criminals on the way out the door.

Stop shopping at this corporate, greedy entity.

After getting used to the prices on the shelf and not the item, I now have to worry about the price changing before I get to the check-out.

I recommend we all remember how much Walmart and other corporations gouged us during this time with "inflation" as an excuse. Personally, I have blacklisted them and won't go back even if they lower prices again as Target and other have done.

I wonder how much money these company’s are going to make when everyone is out of work?

When I started working retail I had a short stint with the price changing team. You HAD to get all the mark ups done before the store opened so guests wouldn't complain that something they'd picked up at 8am wasn't a higher price at 8:15am when they made it to the checkout because an employee got to changing that price a minute after the customer left that aisle.
Now I see the markers putting markups as well as markdowns all through the day. I hate it.

I will either stop shopping there (Whole Foods) or I will only buy the amount of items I can keep track of the price. So writing down the prices on a short list, making the cashier let me have time to check the price that rung up to my list. It will slow down the line, but there it is: easier to discover a price discrepancy at the register than to have to go to another line at Customer Service to return items a minute later.

Same as gas pumps have been doing this for years. Same principle.

What about all the people who have medical issues and can’t handle all those blinking lights. That’s a concern for me

I havent been to a walmart in about 5 years. Their service is awful, the food is rotten, milk doesnt last until the expiration date, the people who shop there are disgusting and i dont want to catch shit

Until they get their robots at Walmart they won't be cutting jobs because they're trying to increase the number of people that pick the groceries for people that don't want to go in the store and shop

People who complains about this are just like those in the past complained about the UPC price scanning. Back in the days when using the pricing gun manually putting a price sticker to each item and the cashiers still have to key each item into the register was the norm, people complained that scanning the UPC bar code are nothing but cheating. Now people are complaining about dynamic pricing. Those complainers never worked in retail before, I guess. They think that raising and lowering price of retail items are just a simple one or two item things that the store does per day. They think that corporate would just raise and lower their price at the whim of time of the day. I still remember Kodak was big with their Kodak moments, but the refusal to adapt and change with the trend of time, going digital, where's Kodak now? If you don't want to shop at a store with digital shelf label, then you might as well don't do eat out, travel, or anything involve with currency.

This happened in Argentina even with paper labels. You could go in for one price and it would be more expensive by the time you reached the counter. You would find products with thick layers of price stickers, one over the other. Welcome to the third world (btw, Argentina was 1st world too before inflation). Our government paid media had a piece on time of week pricing with restaurants, much like you get with airlines. Example, what to go out and eat with friends on Saturday? It will cost more than Friday, and much more than Tuesday. It is called peak pricing.

They could also have accidentally created a way for thieves to shoplift without the store security knowing it.
If someone invents a handheld device that can hack these digital codes…(and no doubt someone will eventually)….
Then they can get everything for a penny!
This could backfire if that device is sold on the black market.
Imagine having access to products with a few pushes of some buttons.
Who wouldn’t LOVE to get their hands on this?

Thank you for this information. I think you are spot on about what is coming in the future regarding prices at Walmart. And Walmart is not worth it! This is why more people are shopping on Temu now, because traditional American Big Box stores are charging 3x the price already, of things they are getting from China and soon they will be charging 10x the price! Rogue Capitalism caused inflation and is killing America! We used to make things here in America, and we could control the economy much better that way and keep prices low. Now we are beholden to the factors surrounding the factories in other countries and political drama which affects our prices.

As someone who works higher up in the retail industry, you all make a bigger deal out of these digital tags than necessary.

For starters, the tag doesn't change the price in the system. So no, someone can't change the digital tag and make it that price when the product is scanned for checkout. Secondly, you usually have to take them off the shelf and plug them into a device to update them. Think of them as something similar to a thumb drive. So no prices cannot be easily changed hourly.

……..I wouldn’t even ENTER a Wal-Mart if you paid me!!! I choose to pay more, by supporting LOCAL BUSINESSES……not sending my money to Arkansas. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤔👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

What happens when the price changes because your smart phone is telling it the price you are willing to pay as you walk by?
