Walmart announced plans to install electronic shelf labels (ESLs) in 2,300 stores by 2026, following a successful test at a Grapevine, Texas supercenter. This initiative aims to improve price updates, inventory tracking, and the shopping experience. Daniela Boscan, a Walmart team lead, noted that ESLs will reduce price update times from two days to minutes. Sourced from France-based VusionGroup, these digital tags will help employees quickly locate products for restocking and order assembly. Walmart's move, part of a broader trend among U.S. grocers like Schnuck Markets and Whole Foods, will significantly increase the presence of ESLs in its over 5,200 U.S. stores, including 3,500 supercenters.
