Making Friends

Listen to me very closely. School is one of the best opportunities to make friends that you will ever get in your entire life. I hated going to school, but think of it this way: You and a ton of people your age are all forced to hang out every. single. day. That's an incredible opportunity! Once you graduate, it'll get 100x more difficult to make friends, so make the most of it while you can.

And don't forget: People won't remember what you said, they only remember how you made them feel. So above all, be kind.

I spent SO long trying to make friends.... like I would literally just ask ‘will you be my friend’ and I failed at that until one day I was avoiding all the people by hiding behind a tree and being lonely and one girl said ‘hey get out from behind that tree you weirdo!’ and now we’re best friends :D

as a homeschooler, i wholeheartedly agree with the description. I like my education but it sure is more difficult to meet new ppl. making friends is a piece of cake in school, don't waste it.

Statistically, most people spend most of their time thinking about themselves. Even if you did completely embarrass yourself, and even if they did notice, they still don't care and will forget about it promptly unless you are already friends or siblings.

In all honesty, I can say with confidence that I have never gone up to somebody and asked if they wanted to be my friend. Usually I would get friends by just waiting for somebody to talk to be, and one day kids did start talking to me. Ever since I have been less shy. I still have social anxiety and 100% agree with him still

This made me think of how social environment can have a big impact of social skills, for example for my last year of I think elementary school (don't know the school system translate, about age 11 to 12 ) I went to a special ed school while it was not necessary and this impacted my social skills extremely, nothing wrong with those kids but if you're around them 7 hours (and I'm talking severe adhd, autism, down syndrome and other things) and the teacher treat you as less capable you really start to doubt yourself and then you start to talk less and less to people and then you start to isolated yourself cuz you feel inferior and then you need a year of psychologist appointments and then another 2 years of middle school ( age 13 to 15) to come out your shell and even then your social skills are still under developed, so yeah just know you have to try to get good at social things

Ahh this is so relatable! Someone having anxiety and being a pure introvert at heart, it was super hard for me to make friends. I usually was awkward and embarrassed when it came to interacting with someone.

I was real quite at high school. I was awkward and loved tech. I made 3 friends in the first year, the first vanished (like GONE!) The second moved away, and the 3rd started driftin away, to a new group. I didnt make propper friends till the final years. We played dnd, played games and hanged out.
