Darling, you aren’t missing a thing. Just go visit your family three or four times a year. You’re living a dream, enjoy it. The fact that it’s hard is part of what makes it worthwhile. Once you get things a little bit farther along, family can come visit you. Stay the course. Blessings.

Hey guys. Have you tried nettles? They are seriously a super-food. Use the larger leaves like spinach. Steep the smaller top leaves in hot water to make tea, then eat the steeped leaves! Heat neutralises the sting in seconds. They don't taste of much, so will accept any flavour put their way.

Thanks for being real. I tried living off grid with my boyfriend. Not to discourage you, but it lasted a year. I worked so hard on the garden and the bugs ate so much. Food was such a hassle, and we just ended up irritating each other. I love your journey and wish you the best. You have friends.

Reminds me of the holidays I missed while in the US Army. I was always in the field or a war zone. Many of tears through the years. Family is everything.

Aw, breaks my heart to see you so sad. I hope your visit with your family will recharge your spirit. Sometimes, we just have to go home and feel the love that will always be waiting for us. Hugs from Indiana!

I understand how you feel Nicole my wife is dealing with the same issues. She is Japanese and living in Australia and at this time there is no way she can leave to visit her family in Japan. They are dealing with one of her parents being elderly and in the hospital gravely ill. We have been married for 27 years and still very happily so what you and Jake have is a brilliant foundation but there are some big hoops to leap through believe me. What you are building there dose it include a plan for a third person and a forth further down the road and everything that goes along with that. Wish you and Jake lots of luck for a great future living the life you have chosen!

Nicole not all of us are enjoying the festivaties of the 4th of July, there are plenty of us working and wishing we were where you are. I like what one of your viewers said about enjoying where you are, that is the best because we are journeying together. Thanks for sharing, distance is only in the mind.

Nicole, thAnks for the honesty because I was wondering how you were surviving considering your life before (independent, family, friends, and a job). New adventures are exciting, but you’ll know when it’s time for a change.

Nic, these are the best years of your life! Take some time for YOU! Visit your family and your friends! You have been amazing in your work off grid. GO, Girl and have some down time.

It's important to remember, life is a journey, not a destination and you can change your path at any time. If you don't feel "trapped" it makes it easier to shrug off the occasional tough moments.

Thank you for being open and honest. Though I found your channel 4 years after this I feel the emotion so much. I live 2500 miles from all my family and miss them terribly.

Awww Nicole, I felt your pain. It is so good you can cry and talk about missing your friends and family. Yes, talking is so therapeutic. My husband was in the Navy and we lived in countries a long way from family and friends, so I know how you feel. Mixed feelings and we need to give each feeling it's space to be. You are doing good. The kittens are growing fast. All those berries look so healthy and good. The bee bite, not so fun. They can sting!!! You both work so hard. Hugs to both. 😺💞

Nicole. You are Jakes world. Jake. Nicole is nothing but that world. 1000’s would love nothing but what you two have. Love in all things. What you have millions will never understand. Love you both.
