Do struggle letting go of items? Here is a simple tip!

Do you struggle with letting items go? Me too! And here is what has been a game changer for me!

A few months ago we decided to start slowly switching out our 10 year old tattered cookware for pretty pink pieces

And as I put away the new, I removed the old… but out with the old isn’t so easy for me when it comes to the kitchen

I mean who couldn’t use 10 extra mixing bowls? I mean what Meal doesn’t require five mixing bowls for prep (kidding or course)

Or what about my 10 old baking sheets that warp the second they get warm?

I surely can’t get rid of those… I will definitely use them again… Probably not.

So when I get paralyzed by those thoughts I employment my favorite 30 day rule which combats that “there is a fraction of a chance I may look at it again” feeling.

I find an empty and out of site space, then I store the old items for one month.

If during that month I need anything, I can always save it from the donation pile. But whatever I don’t use gets donated.

FOMO is gone and so is the clutter, Best part is you can use this technique to effectively decluttering all over your home.

YES YES YES. I find that many people really do have a very hard time letting go of unnecessary items. This is a great exercise!

This really works. I do it with lots of my daughters belongings. Things I am connected to moments we shared….but know she won’t use them again. Slowly disconnects you from the possibility of use.

There was a time when I couldn't afford to buy things because I was out of a job but since I am back at work, I have a hard time letting go of everything. I so need to declutter.

I did this with my parents kitchen they had a cutlery drawer bursting full with knives and spoons and forks mostly from different sets. I said it's just you two now we don't need this much it's just more to wash so I rubber banded all but 1 set of 8 each and hid them in a lower cabinet. I told my mom. They're here if you need them, but you won't need them. If you haven't gotten them out in a month we can donate them.

No no no. Out with the old, in with the new. Beautiful new bowls and pans 💕

Just got done doing that myself, and finally got rid of my plastic items for glass in our kitchen
and it feels so good .
Then gave everything to the Big Brother Big Sister program.

Now that’s a win win 👍🏻

Great Idea. I may do that myself. Any suggestions on a tiny 20” door pantry. I struggle with keeping it organized. My house is big but this pantry is so tiny. It has 5 shelves. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
