A week ago, I thought of trying Linux for the first time. So I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my Laptop
(Core i3 2nd gen, 4GB DDR3, SATA3 SSD) and straight away it felt faster than Windows 10 pro (which I had earlier). BTW I installed Ubuntu in dual boot configuration with the help of your video without any issue, so thanks a lot for the awesome content. Ubuntu felt a lot faster than Windows 10 but it is a lot of mess for windows user to get things going the way they want. Two bar layout on desktop is wastage of space. However with a few GNOME tweaks made it the way I wanted. After using (actually messing around) for 2-3 days I switched to Linux Mint 20.1 and man straight away I can say it is a lot more polished interface and tweaking the things in UI is a lot easier and in fact a lot more customizations are available out of the box even when compared to Windows. For me Mint is faster in many small UI responses and mostly on par with Ubuntu.
Everyone has already said this and I am just confirming this after my own experience that for someone coming from Windows, Linus Mint is the best way to start using Linux. Ubuntu is also good but Mint is just more easy to use and lot more customizable out of the box.

Ubuntu uses Gnome desktop which is slow and unaccelerated in areas, if using ubu then try Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu instead.

Mint is faster for compiling. Ubuntu is faster for video rendering. Same speeds for booting and launching apps. I’d rather go with Ubuntu then.

Actually, linux mint seems to be far more superior to any other Linux OS because of its compatibility and stability.
I've tried several distros and now settled with this.
The only problem in mint what I feel is its slow (bit slow) boot up.

Wow looks like ubuntu is changing the theme to a Mac os or elementary os style. Thank god they aren't using the older classic theme anymore. I hated it.
