1. He may have been hired because everyone is screaming discrimination these days.
2. He probably makes other obese people more comfortable. He can understand their struggles more.
3. He may have been a lot heavier before he started working out. If so, maybe he should wear a "I lost 50lbs" and am still on my journey. If I can do it, so can you."
4. I am sure he has to go through some training on all of the equipment before he gets hired as a fitness trainer since he has to show others how to use the equipment and how much to push the clients.

A jerk is a jerk is a jerk...And they come in all shapes and sizes and colors. They all have different life philosophies and opinions. Even among our own ( whatever that may be), there are jerks...
Okay, but do you know his back story...
Maybe as you observe him, he may be disciplined.
So, you may not choose to train with him, that's okay.
Bur just give him a little room, because maybe in the future you will need a little room, like you won't measure up to someone's expectations. So give him a little room, you may need that extra soace one

He might be on a fitness journey. And obese people may feel comfortable working with him. He may have had a medical incident or depression that has made him obese.

That’s not discrimination. That’s common sense. Would you want to trust your health to someone who can’t care for himself. Don’t judge me. I was advised to consult chiropractor, following an injury. He was late for our morning appointment and when he finally arrived, in came a grossly overweight individual with his carry out breakfast. It was an open “go” box filled with sausage and bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. All carbs and fat. I’m not a health food fanatic, but….well. I gave him the courtesy of completing my consult but declined treatment and did not reschedule. My bad? I don’t think so. A health professional should be healthy.

I also see police officers and troopers who are overweight.. and I think ..How do they chase a suspect without getting winded?.. imo.

I agree, my primary care physician recommended I see a nutritionist. The nutritionist had to weigh 300 pounds or more.

I don’t go to the church for a gynecologist appointment and I don’t call a mechanic for a question about gardening. I don’t go to the grocery store to buy a new house. I don’t think it’s necessarily discrimination as much as it is sensible to go to the right source for what you actually need. I think you made a sensible decision to seek guidance elsewhere.

Kinda like how you wouldn’t ask the Baby oil Diddler how to raise your kids.

Maybe he’s changed his life through exercise and healthy eating and has already lost a lot a ton of weight and is continuing to lose more. In this case, the trainer is teaching people perhaps who are on that same journey. I am always supportive of people trying to better themselves and help others. There’s a lot of fitness trainers who aren’t overweight but who have maladies. Many suffer from orthorexia and other eating disorders as well as exercise bulimia and abusing supplements. These are all things to consider.

As long as they can get my butt in shape I don't care if they are obese. Some people are cycling steroids prescribed or otherwise. I just want someone knowledgeable who gives me results and had good hygiene

It’s kinda like going to a hairdresser with bad hair. If theirs is fried or unkempt they aren’t touching mine.

I once had an obese yoga instructor, and let me tell you the poses she could do were absolutely incredible. It was mind-blowing. And what an inspiration for heavier people! So no, I don't believe in gym discrimination. Give the guy a chance, you may end up surprised.

It’s also silently understood in the healthcare industry and beauty community that if you don’t “look” the part, you might not be taken seriously on your genre/field of work. Some doctor’s office will not hire bigger women/men!

I get it. It's like when I go to a new skin clinic for a facial when I'm overseas, if the receptionist didn't have clear skin, I leave.

There are “fit” trainers on steroids but that doesn’t make them healthy. And actually, no, he may not be obese as he could have muscle mass that makes him appear larger. If you go to a dermatologist with skin irregularities, there is nothing saying that it could be a birth defect, such as hyperpigmentation.

It is what it is. It seems like doctors are afraid to say you're fat, so they say you're overweight or obese. I mean, everybody has a mirror you know what you look like, right??

His shape has nothing to do with his knowledge. There are plenty of good looking trainers that may not have half of his knowledge. Maybe once he was in incredible shape, you never know. I'm a dancer, and I've seen a lot of great dancers being terrible teachers, and terrible dancers, being great teachers. One thing is what you do in your brain, and another one is what you can do physically.
PS: I saw your comment on someone else's message, saying you pay money to get the motivation. Motivation comes from self discipline, and from within, not from whoever you have in front.
