Thank you very much for this video. My HVAC service tech told me to keep replacement capacitors on hand because the price for him to replace a capacitor is close to $400. He showed me the service cost estimate. The capacitor in my unit has a label and I bought the capacitor for $14 off amazon about 6 months ago. Upstairs heat stopped working overnight. I tested the capacitor (after disconnect removed and breakers turned off) just like in this video. Capacitor was bad. Total time to replace was 25 minutes because I was being careful etc. I saved close to $400 and upstairs heat wouldn’t have been repaired until the service guy could get here in a couple days. This video is super helpful.

Just a quick tip from a maintenance guy, who knows the basics. Before you take any wires apart-get your cell phone out and take a picture. This can save you a lot of aggrivation.

A little complicated for a layperson, but I was able to follow along enough to discover my run capacitor was bad. No wonder the previous homeowner had a spare laying around! AC is back in action. Thanks for the video!

Excellent video! Saved me at least $100 by picking up a replacement capacitor at the nearby Ace Hardware and installing. Thanks very much!!

Great tip!! Thanks for sharing. Just did some trouble shooting on my AC unit. Yep, the summer heat finally did in my capacitor. Compressor was not running. Swapped out capacitor and now have cold air again. Less than a $40 fix and a little of my time. Enjoyed your video.

Thanks so much for the video, saved us a load of money not having to have a tech come out to fix it. Did the job for less than $20 parts and a little time 👍👍👍

Thank you very much! I have a 4ton Goodman condenser that had the same symptoms last night. Condenser fan and air habdler running. All the coils were room temp to the touch. The compressor was not cutting on. After inspecrion I noticed that the cap was slightly popping out at the top. I had Amazon overnight a suitable replacemenr ans voila! A 10min swap out later and its working like a champ. System is less than 4 years old but i guess the Florida heat can put some seeious strain on the caps. Thabks again! Subbed!

My Amrad 50/5 cap failed last year. It was 7 years old and I didn’t have a spare. The local HVAC tech had one on his truck $125.00. Believe me I appreciated him getting here and getting the AC fixed so quickly, and I told him that while handing him a big tip. However, I did order the exact capacitor on Amazon for $30.00 and will have my spare ready whenever this one fails. I really enjoyed the video and will honestly say you’re the kind of tech people want to work on their HVAC systems because you take the time to look everything over and see if any other potential problems are looming.
